I found David Busch`s guide to the Sony Alpha DSLR A380/A330/A230 Digital camera to be very informative and well layed out so cross referencing is kept to the minimum.. each topic as a easy to see photo, before buying this book i was a little put off buying it because one or two of the reviews i had read from other people who had bought it had said it was just like a cover version of the instruction manual that came with the camera. The people who wrote that did the rest of us no service at all. Like David said in the book he followed the layout of the manual as he expected that a great number of people like myself had used the camera to take hundreds of photos before even buying this book. What David as done is to take you way beyond just what the manual tells you . Don't just think about getting this book do yourself a favour GET IT you wont be sorry

The instruction manuals are great for telling you what each button does, but they really don't go into what that action leads to. This is where this book comes in. In easy to understand everyday language (It had to be for a simpleton like myself!!) it goes through each available action and explains the full function. An invaluable tool that, once read, becomes a useful reference tool for everyday situations. A MUST HAVE FOR ALL BEGINNERS.

Forget the user guide, forget buying and unrelated photography book. If you are new to DSLR's and decided to move on from a compact camera like me and you've done so by purchasing Sony's Alpha a230, 330 or 380 this should be the first book in your library. It includes all the info from the user guide in an easy-to-read format, but applies or relates it to pratical scenario's or the authors own experiences. Obviously the author has used this camera at length and to it's full potential and their professional background helps to explain all of it's attributes and capabilities. It's not just an ellaborate user guide either, the later chapters go onto explain (in an understandable way) the many manual settings, such as, apature, shutter speed, depth of field, bracketing, white balance etc etc. All in all a great purchase and a 'Bible' like book for anyone new to DSLR's and Sony's Alpha 230, 330 or 380!!!

This is exactly what I was looking for: a comprehensive, lavishly illustrated, easy to understand guide to my new Sony Alpha 330 (also covers A380 and A320). Written in a friendly, easy manner, it covers everything, from 'out of the box' - what you get and what it's all for - to:
setting up,
exposures,
advanced techniques,
lenses (choosing and using),
light and illumination,
downloading and editing images
troublshooting.
In each of the areas it covers everything you could ever want to know in straightforward terms with clear photos. 268 pages in total.
Recommended!

Very poor. This is just an expanded version of the manual and I didn't learn anything new
