About the Author

Berlie Doherty was born in Liverpool and now lives in Derbyshire. She read English at Durham University and worked as a social worker, a teacher and in broadcasting before she became a full-time writer. As well as many novels for both adults and children, she has written plays for theatre and radio. Berlie has won the Carnegie Medal twice - for GRANNY WAS A BUFFER GIRL in 1987 and DEAR NOBODY in 1992.
