Her books tend to be priced slightly more than your average romance but they are worth every penny. I have followed several book series by various authors and even when they start out really good and I am keen for the next book they have all without question begun to pale as they progressed. Not so with Penny's books; they are always at least as strong as the last book. Although I have to admit that Quinn is still my favourite!
It's easy to see that she is not interested in just dotting the i's and t's and sticking to the expected formula for this genre. It's easy to become fully invested in the characters and this happens immediately. You don't grow to like the characters, you love them straight away, and I also appreciate she has written women who communicate with each other with wit and intelligence without them descending into pre-teen nonsense.
So many authors have women who are pigging out or vegging out at the first sign of emotional trauma; having a period nearly kills them for heavens sake! Penny's women have feelings, are strong and aren't bitches. So many romances I have read I don't even like the female character or find them intensely annoying!
You do tend to have to wait longer for this author's sexual pay-off, but when it happens, it's always very hot! And original each time. She is always an immediate click to buy for me, I have everything she's written so far.
Reading this one just makes me want to start over and read them all again!
Although the book is about Maries story and is in her pov, you still have the community story in the background which makes this author my absolute favourite. I want to continue knowing about the life's of those I've previously read about in the series and now to know Abram is Maries brother, just well done Penny, well done.
The story in its self is a romantic tale but as in all of her stories, it's also a source of knowledge, from advances by Nasa to Africa oil corruption and back to Nsa and bitcoins, not forgetting to highlighting the perils of making sure a man has regular check up on his vasectomy. This author covers a lot of ground and I'm so happy to have found these books.
I'm sure this review will grow when I've read the book again. I just feel I need to soak in the bliss that's a brilliant Penny Reid book which is exactly what it is. The perfect addition to the Knitting in City series.
Now shhh I'm starting it again.
Just like most of Penny's books, I went through a whole mix emotions whilst reading this book, never really wanting to put it down, but unfortunately, real life gets in the way. It had me laughing out loud, quietly giggling to myself and also had my crying along the way, just what I want from a good book, one that I will most likely, enjoy more than once.
It also includes all the characters from the other knitting in the city books, so you are left with an overwhelming feeling of familiarity and sense of coming home. Highly recommend this book and in fact the whole series, or more to the point, anything written by the hand of Penny Ried.
Matt is also my new book boyfriend. Marie fed up of dating gives it a last ditch effort and meets Matt who is acting as someone else over a coffee. That dates goes horribly wrong and she swears off dating. Afterwards she meets Matt again but in his academic spendour and decides the merit in robots as romantic companions.
Hilarious, heart warming, adorable and gives you tingles.
