About the Author

Lyn Horner resides in Texas with her husband and several beloved cats. Trained in the visual arts, Horner worked as a fashion illustrator and later as an art instructor for Art Instruction Schools (famous for their "Draw Me" heads.) After quitting work to raise her children, she took up writing as a creative outlet. This hobby grew into a love of historical research and the crafting of passionate romances based upon that research. The author says, "Writing a book is much like putting together a really big jigsaw puzzle. It requires endless patience and stubborn determination to see your ideas come to life, and once hooked on the process, you're forever addicted." A member of Romance Writers of America, Yellow Rose Romance Writers, and Celtic Hearts Romance Writers, Horner is the author of DARLIN’ DRUID, the award winning first book in her Texas Druids trilogy. This western saga features three uniquely gifted siblings, descendents of ancient Irish Druids. DASHING DRUID, book two in the series, is now available, and the third book is "under construction". In addition, a novella titled WHITE WITCH serves as a prelude to the trilogy. Currently available exclusively on amazon.com, this work of historical fiction depicts the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, as seen through the eyes of a clairvoyant young woman who “saw” the catastrophic fire weeks before the first spark ignited. The author knows such a psychic power truly exists, having experienced prophetic dreams herself. Horner has also published a memoir titled SIX CATS IN MY KITCHEN. Six special cats are the headline-grabbing stars, but the book also touches upon subjects such as grieving the loss of loved ones, living with a disability, and coping with major life changes. It's liberally illustrated with photos. I enjoyed Darlin' Druid, the first book of this series. Its combination of a solid western romance storyline with a unique twist on the formula, provided by the infusion of a significant amount of the supernatural, was a fun read that was very different. Dashin' Druid continues the story, this time focusing on Tye Devlin, the brother of the heroine in the first book, and the romance that kindles between him and a neighbor who has a history with his new brother-in-law.

For much of this book, the supernatural aspect of the series felt almost absent; mentioned, but low key and insignificant to the plot. However, the sexual tension between the hero and heroine was so strong that throwing in too much of the supernatural would have felt like overkill. During the later part of the book, the supernatural talents of the Devlin family come more to the fore, as tension of all types increases.

In the final analysis, I enjoyed this book even more than the first. I suspect part of that is that I (and I'm guessing most people) are able to become engrossed in a book easier and quicker if they have already "established a relationship" with the characters by reading and liking a prior book in the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Charming Tale... 15 Mar. 2013
By Angie Lenkevich - Published on Amazon.com

Lily (Lil) Crawford considers herself an old maid that no one wants. She prefers to wear britches over wearing frilly dresses. She's a hard worker on her father's Double C Ranch. Lil despices how her family treats. Lil's world is about to change in ways she neither expects or can't ignore either. Tye Devlin, is of Irish descent, trying to escape his path by moving forward into the future. Tye also carries the gift of empathy and always knows what other's are feeling. Tye doesn't know whether to call it a gift or a curse. He seems to prefer the latter. When Tye meets Lil is stunned into near speechlessness. Tye asks for directions to his sister's home which Lil gives but is clearly hurt by him asking this. Tye is reunited with his sister Jessie but strangely his thoughts turn to Lil more often than not. Will Lil ever see herself as beautiful? Can Tye learn a new trade? What will Tye do about his attraction to Lil? Can Lil admit that Tye fascinates her? Your answers await you in Dashing Druid.

I really loved the concept of this book. I learned alot about cattle drives and what it takes to run one. I also appreciated the paranormal aspect of this book. I also appreciated the sense of history thru out the whole book. I look forward to my next reading experience with this author.
3.0 out of 5 stars Bookcover Disappointing 12 May 2014

I have read these first two books and am getting ready to start the last one. The stories are really good and I highly recommend the series. Book covers may not influence others but I can't help that they do influence me. Sometimes if I don't like the cover I don't even open it. I don't have anything against Jimmy Thomas but I don't like to see him on every cover I read. In this series he is the model on every one and these heroes are not even related. I would have rated at a 4 if not for cover.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dashing Druid - A Fantastic Read! 4 Dec. 2011

Lyn Horner does a phenominal job of accurately portraying life in the old West.

Lil Crawford is a wonderfully independent Texas woman who hasn't the slightest inkling of how beautiful she truly is. She longs to be loved by a man who will respect her and work alongside her in day-to-day ranch life.

Tye Devlin is a strong, delicious Irishman possessing a wee bit of the devilish rogue. He isn't looking for a woman to love, especially this woman, because he doesn't want to hurt another soul. The burden he carries from his past is enough; he knows he wouldn't survive another.

Together Lil and Tye struggle through the adversities of a dangerous cattledrive, feuding relatives, and their own personal issues to make this an exciting, edge-of-your-seat read.
4.0 out of 5 stars Dashing Druid and Cowgirl 16 Oct. 2012

I liked this book as much as the first one. It showed how sometimes real people can be extraordinary. In this story, you have two people who have been injured emotionally and fight their attraction toward each other and eventually give in. It brings up not only the race hatred of the Native Americans but also of the Irish. We are a nation built by many races but still have to remember that race did play a big part on how we saw each other. It was interesting how the Native American mother saw what gifts he was given as a Druid descendant, were accepted and saw as a good thing while most everyone else was in awe or wary of such things. It was a good story of literally taking the reins and changing one's life while dealing with the ghosts of one's past. I know it was a romance and with most of them, they jump each other's bones as fast as possible but I wonder if that would have been the case in this time period.
4.0 out of 5 stars Give it a chance 7 Nov. 2013

At first I was annoyed at how the author portrayed Lily, the heroine. She made Li'l come across as an uneducated dimwit. Eventually, Li'l was given a brain of her own and then the story became more interesting. She did have her traveling alone, in britches, searching saloons. I would have thought she might have come across a little more trouble than she did. Honestly, if Li'l had been given a brain in the beginning, I'd probably have given this book five stars. Sexual content but not explicit or graphic. Cussing. Not that I care about it one way or the other, but some people want that information up front. Loved the magic of the Druids. A nice touch. Will recommend to family and friends and granddaughter.
