About the Author

Kelley Swain, who grew up in New England and now lives in London, has always followed the dual paths of science and literature. After graduating in 2007 with a degree in English, she completed a graduate programme in Maritime Studies at the Mystic Seaport in Connecticut. Darwin's Microscope is her first collection and its publication coincides with the bicentenary of Darwin s birth in 1809 and the 150th anniversary of his magnum opus, On the Origin of Species (1859).

Geek

An amazing blend of poertry and science

Even though poetry has never been my favourite area (hardly read any since high school), I am amazed how enjoyable and touching this book is -- bringing to life many of the facts and emotions associated with the great scientist, and the pursuit of knowledge and understanding.
Poetry that even techno-geeks like me can appreciate -- what a pleasant surprise!

Scientific Enlightement for Everyone

Distinctly unique set of poems. Invites its reader to peer through the glass of a microscope's lens into the world where "data" mixes with "metaphor" and "hypothesis" means no less than "enlightement". A definite must for anybody out there hungry for this one-off feeling of scientific "catharsis" usually reserved strictly for like minds.
