Darksiders 2 is a worthy purchase for anyone with a Wii U but its not without a few problems.

The plot has you taking control of the most feared of the four horsemen of apocalypse, Death, as he sets out to clear his brothers name of prematurely bringing about the apocalypse in the original game. The game's story runs alongside the originals game and ends just before the ending of the original. The quality of story is rather good, if a little confusing at times (it can be hard to keep track of all those biblical names). So far so good.

The gameplay here is solid as a rock. It blends a mix of God of War combat, Zelda exploration with Prince of Persia's acrobatics thrown in for good measure. Don't get me wrong, there is enough here to elevate Darksiders 2 above clone territory, it very much holds its own identity. The combat is very satisfying and works in tandem with a light rpg levelling up system that allows you to unlock skill points which are used to unlock skills, naturally. Traversing the game world is mostly enjoyable, there's always collectibles to find, but I found some of the map unnecessarily large with nothing to look for. You can summon your horse, Despair, at any moment which is always handy.

The game has a fantastic soundtrack which is fairly memorable. The general grunts and screams are all well done as are most other sounds. The voice acting is what shines, particularly Deaths, and helps create a real sense of immersion.

Sadly, this is what lets the game down. The game has screen tearing issues in abundance, noticeable pop up and I experienced several game crashing bugs.

This is a great game. Easily matches the Zelda feel and should tide you over until that elusive Zelda is released. My issues with the game is the bugs in the software - several times the system freeze and you have to turn off the Wii U from the mains as the buttons freeze. Also, the graphics are a wee bit buggy as well - frequent frame rate drops and screen tears. Then there's the sluggish control at times... But the game is GREAT!

Huge vast worlds, loads of RPS-like qualities, all the depth you desire, loads of side quests, great voice acting, it really is a good game. Unfortunately, since THQ went bust, no updates are being made to fix the issues... It's too bad as this game could have easily been a solid 5 stars had there been a fix for the issues.

By the way, I am NOT a pro gamer! If you want one of them reviews I would suggest that you look to the review sites. Well worth the current price as well - I paid a bit more and it was totally worth it!

Brilliant game. I was rather hesitant about buying this game to say the least, given the mixed reviews. Eventually I caved in and bought it, before it is no longer available! It looks great, nice colors within a vast open world (somewhat like Zelda). Sure there are a few glitches like climbing a rock, when there is no rock there, but not witnessed anything too major (yet). Game controls are a little confusing, as too is the the game-pads use, and the manual does not really explain it very well. That being said the story is good and interesting, lots of collectables, side quests etc and the use of the game-pad as a map and to select weapons etc is a bonus (once you understand how to use it!), and it can be used for off TV play, another reason why the Wii U is the No 1. games console. All in all, the game plays and looks good, there is lots to do, although it can be frustrating at times, particularly getting use to Deaths powers/abilities etc. I would definitely recommend this game, but you may need to Google how to do certain things.

Love everything about this game (the only downside is that it can be buggy at times) but don't let that put you off, as it is immensely brilliant! I agree with many of the reviewers that it has alot of similarities to many of the Zelda games (in which I am a huge fan, and this didn't disappoint), I know lots of games have tried to be Zelda, but just never had that same magic, but this one is actually a little special. It is a completely different game that is not trying to copy, but is a great game in its own right. So what people mean when they compare this to Zelda is that there are lots of great things that will remind you about it in the sense of brilliantly done dungeon concepts jam packed full of puzzles to figure out how to progress through them and find the collectible weapons and items etc. The characters are fun and unique, and the story is very good. (Really feels like you are in an adventure, and is very addictive). If you want to get the most out of this game, I would highly recommend seeing the youtube video walkthrough by a guy called Kuddlesnot, as his is so far the most complete and comprehensive in terms of finding all the collectibles, and this will seriously help you through this game, plus you will have alot of fun doing it! I have now completed this game, and would DEFNITIELY play it again!
