Product Description

Product Description

Unearth have joined up with producer Adam D of Killswitch Engage fame to record Darkness In The Light. Also joining the band on drums for the recording is none other than Justin Foley of Killswitch Engage. The new material is a welcome return stylistically to Unearth's top selling release The Oncoming Storm, featuring heavy riffs and drumming coupled with diverse breakdowns that the band has become known for.

I liked their first two albums. Solid musicianship and all. But I skipped third and fourth beacause it was simply getting tedious having to listen to same sounding songs over again. I thought that they will change SOMETHING with this one but I was wrong. Just more of the same. Well produced music, recorded by skilled musicians but it lacks variety(not mentioning the fact that variety is not a strong feature of metalcore, but is not impossible to achieve, right?). If you're not sure about this one, take my advice and skip it. For devoted fans only.

I totally disagree with the 2 star review. Unearth have never really impressed. I always thought they were just ok. I bought this on an impulse and reading good reviews about it. When i listened to the album i was pleasantly surprised. It for one is definately not boring. Its heavy, melodic and basically a very good album. The vocals will not win any prizes and they are certainly not original, but compliment the guitar lines well. The sound of the album is a cross between All that Remains, Silent Civilian with the occasional Iron Maiden esq solo. Definately worth a listen to make up your own mind.

Great CD, and follows in the vein of the previous (is that so bad?). I really like their sound on this one, great vox, great riffs, excellent mix and don't forget those melodic solos that take over the mix when it's their time. Just listen to Last Wish (at least a decent sounding sample) and Equinox with is quite frankly stunning with the start and the great piano midway (very Becoming the Archetype). Like it says on the tin. It's Unearth. Fans will continue to be fans. Buy. Support your local metal team.

The last reviewer described this album as boring. This album is anything but boring, its a solid, brutal, technically superb example of a metalcore album.

Unearth are a band that I have followed since the release of The Stings of Conscience back in 2001. You will notice in each and every album since that this is a band that has developed and consistently got better with each album. Darkness in the Light is no exception to that.

Give this a listen, you will not be disappointed.
