THE DARKNESS II LIMITED EDITION
The Darkness II is the sequel to the critically-acclaimed 2007 release, The Darkness, and features an original story by acclaimed comic writer Paul Jenkins.
It’s been two years since Jackie Estacado, now Don of the Franchetti crime family, used The Darkness to kill the men responsible for his girlfriend’s murder. He’s been unable to shake the memory of Jenny’s death since bottling up his supernatural power and now The Darkness wants out.
A sudden, unprovoked attack on Jackie’s life heralds the start of a full-scale mob war which has clearly been orchestrated by some outside force. The botched attempt opens the door for The Darkness to re-emerge, and sets Jackie on a journey to hell and worse as he unravels the mystery behind the attack and the motivations of The Darkness itself.
- Quad-Wielding Chaos: Slash, grab, and throw objects and enemies with the Demon Arms while simultaneously firing weapons, adding a new dimension to the FPS category
- Kill The Lights: Vicious, flesh-eviscerating supernatural powers only manifest in the absence of light so use or create shadows for a strategic advantage
- Gripping Interactive Storytelling: Intense and personal story written exclusively for the game by acclaimed comic book author Paul Jenkins whose credits also include The Incredible Hulk, Wolverine and Hellblazer
- Distinctive Graphic-Noir Style: Graphic novel shading and colour combined with the dramatic lighting of film noir make it feel as if you’re playing a graphic novel
- Co-Op Campaign: Play as one of 4 unique characters, each capable of wielding weapons infused with Darkness Powers
- Based on the comic book series created by Top Cow

however, there is one little thing that was not sooo good. :( You can play the game on the hardest difficulty and you dont even start sweating... and i am a BAD gamer, I really suck at gaming... the multiplayer mode is okay, had lotsa fun with other people, it just gets boring after a while becuase it's always the same missions, otherwise it's really nice.
Making all those decisions is also very good. Like it a lot. :) and who would not want to jump down that building??? !!!!
Then there is the length of the game, I was done in nearly just 6 hours. The single player is what i'm reviewing and that's how long it took me, multiplayer offers scope for 4 player coop and a few extra missions and whatnot. New characters with small amount of background info and unique weapons, might be fun. The whole thing felt very rushed any way, you went from fight to fight and never really got any real character development on any of the people around you.
Combat was fine, if a bit dull (not many abilities, samey guns, enemies that more or less melt before you), executions were quite satisfying but I would have liked a few more animation and for it to be randomised, not based on where you grab them, or you could add a mini game? higher score, cooler execution, more points?
The ending was annoying, I don't like cliffhangers, especially when it feels like half a game. Also, if the darkness had talked to us properly and not all voice in your head and sinister like then I might have let the whole thing go. But because it didn't we both got screwed, not very smart by a being supposedly as old as god or whatnot.
Alright game, too short, wish the prequel was on PC but whatcha gonna do?
The art style is pleasing.
The voice-acting is TOP NOTCH - I 'activated' every collectible because the voice-acting in the description is brilliant.
The first game The Darkness was originally released on xbox 360 and PS3 and although this game is released as a sequel I did find it was complete in it's own right , although in order to fill in some of the blanks of the original story I would advise anyone to buy the original game, but I felt the games are completely different in style as the first game was more of an action story mode game with some fps thrown in, however having played both games I think the Darkness 2 is a definite out and out FPS game with many improvements over the original.
The story itself jumps back and forth from one reality to another which I think you will find can be quite funny at times, the dialogue for me was very good and in keeping with the story, but be aware it is only suitable for adults and at times the game is extremely violent with graphic scenes of mutilation and gore you don't find out till the end of the game how it will all turn out which kept me interested throughout, A good ending for me personally.
The customization of your own character using dark essence which is obtained by taking down your foes in all manner of ways will allow you to purchase special Dark powers. The game gallops along at a decent pace and there is no real challenge played on easy settings for experienced gamers, there are four different skill levels from Thug to Don (easy-hard),
The main story campaign offers around 6-8 hours of game play which is the only criticism I have of this immensely enjoyable game, however the game does offer plenty of replay value by using the New game plus mode which allows you to keep your already gained Dark powers and play through the game again, obtaining all the dark powers would seem the obvious goal here and to allow you to try the game on a more difficult game level.
Bonus Game Modes offering endless hours of Fun.
The Game also has a Vendetta mode which can be played in sigleplayer or multiplayer co-op and can be played with up to 4 players online or offline. The single player portion of Vendetta story mode is equally challenging if not more so than the original Game Campaign the only difference here is you don't play as Jackie, instead there is a choice of characters to play with who have their own special abilities, I did find this part of the game after writing my initial review and felt it only fair to ammend my original review as the Vendetta mode is actually bigger than the main campaign and offers endless hours of fun to this superb title.
The shooting sequences in the game are very fluid and if you are looking for a crisp stylized shooter which has a fast paced but precise mechanic then Darkness 2 fits the bill, I did find the game kept the very best to last and the feeling of progression with better guns and increasingly more difficult opponents throughout was very rewarding and quite addictive, with no lack of ammo and an ever growing set of dark skills which allows you to feel confident in battle the game is perfectly balanced in terms of fun versus challenge.
The graphics in the game are top notch and played on a medium to high performance system the game overall is stunning to look at, I found very few if any performance issues with the game running on medium settings, However I would say make sure your system meets at least the recommended requirements, I would advise GTX 280 in SLi, If you wish to run this game at high resolutions and high settings you will need a GTX 480 or 580 or ATI equivalent.
Overall The Darkness 2 is an excellent game and for me personally it has to be played through at least 3 times for maximum fun and also to experience the Darkness 2 in all its Glory it's definitely a 5 star game, You can also Ignore the 1 star reviews here which personally I feel are unjustified, the Darkness 2 limited Edition on PC is one of the best games I have played in 30 years Gaming.
Addictive Stunning to look at and with a superb story which no doubt will be continued.
Works great in Portugal without problems or issues.
