This is a well written account of the author's adventure leading to extreme terror and injury and its aftermath. The tale is gripping from the outset and its one I really couldn't put down. Another member of the family had the same positive reaction to it. If anything I would have liked to hear more about the author's later life and perhaps this will be forthcoming in another book some time.

A great read. The detail KJ goes into about his injuries and how he made his way back to civilisation are incredible. Im not sure I would have the ability to endure what he did!!! Anyone who is thinking of undertaking any kind of expedition should read this first, to see if they measure up.

Ken's journey from the avalanche on Mt Moldoveanu via Romanian and UK hospitals to learning to walk again then culminating in creating 'The Fan Dance Race' is awe inspiring. He has done this raw material justice in putting it out for all to learn from in a well written book. He makes real the harrowing crawl / hop / walk for three days to safety in a remote Transylvanain hamlet, managing to make me shiver as he described his struggle to survive the soul numbing cold. Then travelling from safety to recovery is even more harrowing and again he captures the emotional suffering all too well. It's perhaps not a book for the squeamish but certainly deserves as wide a readership as possible. I've downloaded it to my Kindle, bought a 'physical' copy on here as well, which I will be passing on, and will be buying my third copy when I will be privileged to meet him at the Old Red Telephone Box later in the month. I can't put it more strongly than that- I've bought in three times. Treat yourself, do it at least once.

An amazing story of what it really takes to survive a catastrophic event and still come out the other side. How he had the determination in such a predicament to keep fighting against every obstacle mother nature could throw is a real testament to the will to live. Its a great read and shows truly what the human spirit is capable of. Enjoyed it immensely.

It takes a special kind of person to come back from the brink of death, this book details just such a person. Every time you close the book you'll feel guilty about leaving Ken alone on the mountain, and all the while you'll be asking yourself, "could I have achieved what he did?", probably not will be the answer. People are capable of amazing things when the odds are stacked against them, this book illustrates just what the human mind and body can endure and overcome. Nails!
