With her amazing story telling, kick-ass characters and buckets of hotness, Tanya Holmes has done it again. She's kept me awake well into the night, turning page after page, wanting to devour this fantastic book as quick as I possibly can. And I did. In two sittings.
God I hate cliff-hangers, but I seriously cannot wait to read book two and find out all the answers to allow the questions surrounding Braeden, Xavier and D!!

I received this book to give an honest review. After I read the blurb I was really wanting to read the book. You have this detective psychic Denieve Knight who is under the pretense that this man that has been named Dr. Death has killed his patients along with her best friend. So she goes undercover to get close to him to see if she can uncover how he has killed his victims and why. Now this is where for me the story was getting interesting as it seemed this was going to be a good mystery and there was going to be a lot of unanswered questions. Then we hit the sex part and it really threw me off as I was not really expecting it, I mean neither Dr. Frost or Denieve or Danielle as is what her undercover name is gave off this vibe of wanting on another. Though the sex was hot and very well written I felt the book would have done okay with out. There are a lot of unanswered questions that I do hope comes to light in part two of this serial I want to know more about Dr. Frost and what he and his brother are. How did the become who they are? Why is Dr. Frost killing his patients now either by accident or on purpose? What is wrong with Denieve now that she has been in touch with Dr. Frost? Why is Denieve’s best friend giving her clues that seem to have no answers to them?
While Denieve is dealing with the secrets that Dr. Frost is harboring she has to fight her feelings that she feels, and while Dr. Frost is trying to deny his feelings for Deneive he has to be weary of the assassins gunning for him. Especially since he has made enemies. The characters are good not boring at all. I have to say I like how Dr. Frost comes along as he has the weight of the world on his shoulders but can become putty in the hands of a woman.

4 - "You must understand... I am what I do." Stars!

I didn’t really know what to expect when I started reading The Darkest Frost as although the synopsis gives you a little hint of what the story is about, it doesn’t really give you any information as to what direction the story may take, the backgrounds of the lead characters or the unusual skills and talents that both of them are living and dealing with.

The thing is, I cannot really give too much away in relation to the plot without offering up spoilers, so I am going to do my best to encourage you to read the book without really giving anything away.

To say this is one of the most unusual, unique and interestingly written books I have read in a long time would be an understatement, the author offered up a set of characters, back stories, secrets and gradual development that keeps you on their toes, at points I was just starting to approach the stage of wondering what the hell was going on, and the author would drop in a little nugget of information that clarified a lot of what I was getting confused about, it isn’t hard to read or understand, but the level of information given on each of the characters as the story develops is such that you are given enough to know what is going on, but never enough to fully be able to work out where the author is ultimately going to take you. It certainly keeps you attentive to the characters and the story. Told in several POV’s as well as jumping back and forth in parts you need to make sure you are fully awake when you are reading this book a lot happens, and it’s a case of ’blink and you’ll miss it’ if you aren’t paying attention to the chapter headers and whose head you are currently in.

Creepy, spooky, sexy, unique and really, really enjoyable.

LOVED!!!

Full disclosure: I'm not typically a reader of paranormal, but I really enjoy Tanya Holmes writing so I thought I'd just read a little before I went to sleep. Needless to say, I didn't sleep much that night. And I finished the book the next day. I could NOT put it down!!! I must say that it's been a while since I've finished a book that quickly. The story was compelling, the characters complex and unique, and the plot kept me turning the pages. Tanya Holmes writes so intelligently and, as a reader, you know there was never a moment where she just decided to slap some words on a page (ie. waste your time). Everything was thought out. Each word sings. The dialogue is great. I didn't find myself overly THINKING while I read, I just enjoyed the story and went along for the ride. That's when you know you are reading something by a great writer. Um, yeah, so Part 2?? Bring it!!!
