Product Description

Review

"I want a lifetime of holy moments. Every day I want to be in dangerous proximity to Jesus. I long for a life that explodes with meaning and is filled with adventure, wonder, risk, and danger. I long for a faith that is gloriously treacherous. I want to be with Jesus, not knowing whether to cry or laugh."

From the Back Cover

JUMP FIRST. FEAR LATER. Remember the thrill of thinking you could fly? The adventure of going places in your imagination? The joy and abandon of running and jumping and playing hard-without worrying about what "might" happen? In Dangerous Wonder, Michael Yaconelli invites you to recapture the joy of being a child and apply it to your relationship with God. You'll be encouraged to ask difficult questions about faith and take Jesus at His word when He says, "Anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." If you're looking for the joy and freedom of faith, Dangerous Wonder will open your eyes and your life to the possibility of an exciting adventure in relationship with God. This new edition now includes a discussion guide to help you experience an even deeper relationship with God, filled with wonder and awe.

Dangerous Wonder is one of my most treasured books. I remember reading it during a transatlantic flight and crying as the stories moved me at a very deep level. Yaconelli is a wonderful storyteller and weaves stories and insights together to create a very powerful and one might even say transformative narrative. The book explores the qualities of a childlike approach to a relationship with God. What does faith feel like when full of wonder, risk taking, passion and trust? They are questions that Yaconelli explores and more.

The stories are moving, the theology is rich, the insights are honest and persuasive. I don't want to spoil the book itself, but I can't recommend it enough. It is a book that I have read a few times now, shared from as I have communicated and taught over the years and have just put on my 'to read in 2016' pile! Dangerous Wonder is a worthy addition to any bookshelf.

This is a phenomially challenging book. The authors tone is so genuine, and his insight is incredible. It is a book that as a christian, takes the pressure off you, and puts different pressure on at the same time. You'll understand what I mean when you read the book.

There are so many boring Christian books. Thier contents are almost interchangable. This book is FRESH. You will read something that is a little different but you will surely not be bored. The author writes with passion and humor and has a keen eye for the nuances of God's presence in this world.

There are some interesting points in this book, but it basically doesn't say all that much more than simply "Are you sufficiently awed by God/Jesus?" A good corrective to our blase attitude, but doesn't set the world on fire for me.
