"You were made to see and believe in the good in people. That's part of who you are, but sometimes our greatest strength is also our greatest weakness. Believing in others, trusting others, can open you up for heartache."

When Lacey Jordan father goes missing, she is reunite with her former lover Caleb Mansfield the person who broke her heart six years ago, and someone she doesn’t want to see, and doesn’t trust. As much as she hates to admit she soon realises that Caleb maybe the only person who can really help her find her father.

Lacey was feisty, and independent not afraid to say what she is thinking. She would do anything it took to save her father even risking her own life. Caleb was strong-minded, and caring he would do whatever it took to get Lacey to see that she could trust him again and help her find her father.

Dangerous Ally was romantic suspense novel that I read in one sitting. The suspense aspect of the storyline and it's twist and turns definitely kept me guessing as to what was going to happen next. The romance aspect had me smiling many times.

I liked Lacey, and Caleb even though they did frustrate me a few times with their choices. They definitely had plenty of chemistry, and you could see that they were still very much attracted to each other. Their relationship wasn’t always plain sailing.

Title: Dangerous Ally
Author: Michelle Grey
Star rating: 5 stars

When Lacey is invited to a special dinner at her fathers house, there's only one problem... her father is no-where to be found.
With her fathers recent scientific discovery being close to reality, people would quite happily Kill for it! Finding out her dad has been Kidnapped turns her whole world upside down. With the chances of finding her dad alive narrowing by the day, Lacey is hoping that someone will have some information that will lead to her father. Caleb Mansfield, her former lover and the keeper of her fathers big discovery, shows up to help only to be questioned as to whether he is working with Lacey or against her. He needs to gain the trust that he broke all those years ago. Can they succeed or will time run out?

I devoured this book in one sitting and cannot get it out of my head. I absolutely love it!! Lacey is everything I would want in a heroine, fiesty, Brave and fiercely independent. And Caleb, wow! Who wouldn't want this caring and intelligent hunk of a man working with them! This debut novel of Michelle Grey's is one hot & steamy must read!

Ms Grey has done an amazing job writing this story! The book is well thought out, the story flows nicely, the characters are believable and above all its edited to near perfection!! You won't be disappointed!

I read this for Round Table Book Reviews

This is the story of Lacy Jordan. She helps run a florist & gift shop, with her best friend Paige.
Her father Bill Jordan is a top rate scientist.
When Jordan goes to her father's for dinner one night, in the hope that he will announce his engagement to Mona, she is devastated to find that he has disappeared. As the hours go by Lacy has to come to terms with the fact that maybe it is her father's research that is behind it.
Help arrives in the form of Caleb Mansfield. A man that Lacy hoped she would never see again, after their brief relationship years ago left her heart broken. Together they embark of a journey to discover who is behind her Father's kidnap & their real feelings for each other.
I enjoyed this book. It was a little slow at the beginning, but it did pick up the pace & was a real guessing game as to who was the main man behind it all.
There was a lot of sexual chemistry between Lacy & Caleb, but they didn't quite gel right for me. The other characters worked well.
This is still worth a read.

I was happy to receive the kindle version of Dangerous Ally, which is Grey's debut novel. After reading the synopsis and bio, I was hooked and could not wait to read it. And read it I did. I devoured it! The book zips along nicely, the heroine Lacey is what a woman should be, brave, guarded, independent and feisty.

The hero of the piece, the love interest is Caleb Mansfield, who is the quintessential hunk of a bloke, intelligent, caring, manly, strong..(sorry, drooled a little there!)

The two characters have a history, a bitter-sweet history which simmers as a side plot to the main event which is of course, Lacey's father being kidnapped by some very unsavoury people. As the main plot unfolds with more layers of intrigue, Lacey and Caleb learn to work together, grudgingly on one side, to bring her father home safe. By the end of the book I was screaming at them to get together, which is the sign of a great book. This book is extremely well written, edited perfectly, and the cover is very steamy too!
This is an excellent debut novel and I advise you to read it. I am reliably informed that Grey's second book will be out soon, so get behind me in the queue!

This novel started out a little slow but was quite interesting with all of the background information that Grey fills her readers in with. It kept getting better from there. By the end I was quite immersed in the lives of these characters. I quite enjoyed the biotechnology behind the story. It was a brilliant basis that made this story stand out in the crowd, even if the romance portion of the novel was a bit predictable at times. But hey, it's a romance novel. They tend to all have a HEA.

The main characters in this novel were quite interesting and driven. I became rather attached to them and they were definitely the type of people that you wanted to see succeed. The supporting cast could have been a bit more developed so that we had more of an idea who they were, but they did serve their roles quite nicely as they were.

Overall, this novel presented a very cohesive whole that brought you from point A to point B with a smile on your face. It was an enjoyable read that I'd recommend to those who enjoy romance with a bit of suspense.

Please note that I received this novel free of charge from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Lacey and quite rightly is suspicious of Caleb actions because of the history that they share

The story is mainly told from the POV of Lacey and Caleb; however, you get the POV of a few other characters, which was interesting sometimes this doesn’t work as it can get confusing, but I liked it as it gave you an insight into what the detectives and the people responsible for Lacey’s father disappearance were thinking.

Overall Dangerous Alley was an enjoyable read from the start. It was the first book I have read by Michelle Grey, and I will be checking out her other books. If you like books with some suspense, mystery, sexiness, romance and lets not forget second chance love then I would add this one to you TBR list.

I was given this book to read for a honest review. This book was def a slow start for me. But, once it picked up it def kept my attention.

The story begins with Lacey heading to her dad's house. Her father's house is empty except for his cell phone. Which is odd because they're suppose to have dinner there with her dad's girlfriend Mona. When her dad doesn't show up it's obvious he's been kidnapped.

The next day her dad's cell phone ring's and it's Caleb Mansfield. Lacey's ex-boyfriend & close friend of her father's. Her dad sent him the finished files of his work. Caleb learns that Bill Jordan is missing and gets on the 1st flight to help Lacey find her father.

The last thing Lacey wants is Caleb back in her life. He broke her heart years ago. Last thing Lacey wants or needs is the sexy Caleb back in her life. Unfortunately, she realizes rather quickly that Caleb knows more about her father's work then she does. Lacey agrees to let Caleb help her without letting him get to close.

Caleb realizes how much he loves Lacey. He also knows that he hurt Lacey very badly. Lacey doesn't trust him. And, he doesn't blame her. But, he'll do ANYTHING to win her trust & her back!!!

Lacey and Caleb learn quickly that her father's kidnapping is because of his work. And, that Lacey is at risk too. Caleb vows not to leave her side until her father is found & the kidnappers are behind bars. Lacey is def not liking the idea of Caleb being around 24/7.

We see as the story goes that there are a lot of people that work with Bill & Caleb that could be the kidnappers. But, you'll see that one by one every person you thought it could be.... Isn't. You'll also see Lacey at the worst, most scariest time in her life still staying strong. She starts helping Sam. Her employee at her store. Sam is pregnant and is scared. Lacey helps her weigh her options on having & raising her baby. Or finding a good family and giving her baby up for adoption.

What I really liked about this story was Caleb and Lacey's relationship. I loved how they still loved each other after all these years. And, no matter how hard Lacey fought the feelings for Caleb. Deep down she loved him. She just didn't trust him. But, she def keep's telling herself that she needs to learn to trust him. I really loved how caring and protective Caleb is of Lacey and everybody else he cares about. He gave Lacey all the help in the world that she needed. With giving her the space she needed to learn to trust him again.

I really wish the story with Sam would of had a actual ending. I felt like it was left open and not finished. For me, it really didn't have that much suspense to the story. It was more of a love story. But, it was a good story with a great ending. Michelle Grey's next book look's great as well.

"You were made to see and believe in the good in people. That's part of who you are, but sometimes our greatest strength is also our greatest weakness. Believing in others, trusting others, can open you up for heartache."

"It's the waiting I hate the most. I just want something to happen. Something we can act on."

"Pretty simple really. I thought we were in love. I was wrong. I thought we were going to spend our lives together. Wrong again. He left and that was it."

HASH(0x8e7ed4a4) out of 5 stars Fast-paced romantic suspense that was enjoyable 2 Sept. 2013
By Lady Vigilante (Feifei) - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
***Copy kindly provided by author in exchange for an honest review***

"She'd entered the danger zone where trust and insecurity battled for ownership of her mind."

I absolutely love romantic suspense. In fact, it's one of the very first genres I read and one that got me completely hooked onto reading. There was absolutely no question of me NOT reading this book when I saw it was romantic suspense so of course, I gobbled it up in one sitting. While this book was certainly an attention-grabber, I felt like it was lacking...intensity. You know, the kind that makes you want to clutch your heart or makes you agonize over a character's decisions.

Mind you, I could barely put it down. It held me enough to read it straight on, but it wasn't a book where the story and characters stayed with me.

So what's this book about, hmm? I think I'll let Lacey do the honors.

"I am totally pissed off. I have a headache from hell. My business was robbed. My dad's been missing for four days and no one can find him. And now, you're here. What the hell else can go wrong?"

In other words, Lacey's life in a nutshell. She is on her way to meet her father, Bill, and his girlfriend Mona, expecting an engagement but instead, receives the word that her father is missing. Caleb Mansfield, her father's former protégée, shows up in town to help find him. The catch here is that Caleb is her former lover and the heartbreaker, which makes Lacey feel even more annoyed and hurt. Yep, lots of water under the bridge. *ruh-roh*

"You knew I'd fallen for you. I thought we had something special, something real. He said no and you stood there and watched it happen. You let it happen. That's a fact. Lie to me again and I'm out of here."

"I didn't challenge him because I'm the one who asked him to do it."

"Nice. If that's what you do to people you're crazy about, I feel sorry for your enemies."

Despite her trepidation and fears of insecurity, Lacey realizes that she needs Caleb, needs his help and support. For all the wrongs and misunderstandings between them, their love for Bill overshadowed their personal feelings. Time was running out, and it wasn't on their side.

"I didn't want him to be involved, you know. But I'm running out of options. I'm losing my dad, Caleb. I can feel it."

The suspense aspect was decent. Around 20% or so, one of the perpetrators is revealed so it was all the matter of whether or not Lacey and Caleb could find her dad. I did enjoy the multiple POVs, not just of Lacey or Caleb, but the ones with the 'bad guys' and the detectives. Gives the book a full accounting of the events as they unfold and really adds depth to the plot.

The ending was a bit rushed, but it didn't derail me from enjoying the story.

4 STARS!!!
