Not only does it look good but it sounds and plays brilliantly, the pick ups give a clear sound and if the 60's stuff is your bag then this gives that 'jangly' sound that was common for the era.
Currently selling on Amazon with £150 off making this guitar a steal at £249.00, it feels great, looks fantastic and plays really easy for a 12 string so even if you have problems playing barre chords you won't overly struggle on this particular guitar.
Anyway, I read all the amazon reviews, checked all the youtube vids and went for a Danelectro DC59 12 String from Amamzon. An absolute steal at £252 (delivered) Here's what I found
The DC59 12 is a superb guitar, both in looks, quality, playability and tone.Painwork is flawless, the rosewood neck is far easier to play than my previous Ric and the whole feel is one of quality.(unlike numerous reviews)
The guitar arrived wildly out of tune with fairly high (for me) action. This was resolved in 15 minutes by lowering the bridge pieces and re-tuning.I now have a guitar that has an incredibly low action and more importantly stays in tune.
The 3way selector switch gives a good selection of tones with my favourite being the middle which operates both pick ups.I play thro' a Janglebox into a vox AC30 which gives me all the jangle I need. I can honestly say that I can not determine the difference between the Dano my old Ric.
So,if your looking for a great 12 either to get the 'jangle' or replace your existing rig,get a Dano, you won't regret it
Because of my location, it took 5 days to get to me, which is pretty quick for me.
The first thing I noticed, was that the boxed guitar was very light (weight), and upon opening, it was very nicely packaged. The guitar itself, was extremely light compared to Fender and Gibson and look a likes. The finish looked OK, but felt a little sticky...so out came the Carnauba wax, and 10 minutes later, the finish felt perfect. The cream banding is textured, and doesnt need any polishing.
The pic guard is attached with 3 screws, and does need one more to hold it flush to the guitar body, which I have done.
The lipstick pups are adjusted from the back of the guitar...I also fitted strap locks, as I have to all of my guitars.
Now the important part........
It plays like a dream....nice action and beautiful sounds. A nice straight neck...As its so new to me(1 day) I cant say about keeping in tune, but the reviews all say it holds tune very well..I havent set the intonation yet, but its dead easy to do, with the supplied tools.
If only I had access to a budget guitar of this caliber 50 years ago, when I started playing...because then , the action was always 1/2 inch string to fret board, and always destroyed your fingers.
My verdict....10/10 after the little work I had to do.
