Product Description
Can't control your feet? Wanna dance with somebody? Fed up of our tired lyrical puns? Dance yourself dizzy with Dancing Stage Euromix and the Spectravideo dance mat, compatible with both PSone and PlayStation 2. There are 24 songs to shake your booty to--including Gloria Gaynor's I Will Survive, Word Up from Cameo, Buggles' Video Killed the Radio Star, and Boyzone's So Good. The giant mat with sensors (which is also compatible with various other dancing games) replaces the joypad, and the aim is to mimic steps on the screen by moving your feet in time with the beat. You can even plug in an extra mat and challenge your mates to a dance fest. Dancing Stage Euromix includes several game modes, including arcade, multiplayer and workout--the latter includes a calorie counter, so you can have fun while shedding pounds as you work up a sweat getting jiggy with it. Playing games really is good for you...

There's a classic arcade mode, a fitness mode (which tells you roughly how many calories you've been burning since the start) and a practice mode in which you can slow down the song, have a metronome, have clap sounds to indicate when to step etc so that you can really master a particular dance.
And unlike shooting, sports, racings or any other games, this can actually be impressive once you get good enough. On the other hand, it can make any masculinity start to disappear, but it's all in the name of fun.
Needless to say I ordered myself my own before coming home, and here it was 2 days ago when I got here. I decided to go for the Dance Stage Party Edition, as I wanted to see how different it was to the other one. Both are good, but I would definitely recomment the DSPE due to having more songs, including Kylie and The BloodHound Gang.
Aboslutely a must have... Buy it NOW for hours of entertainment and exercise for all the family. Also a cracker to take to leaving doos or xmas functions at work.
P.S. Only 4 stars, cos the DSPE version is better.
It's great fun and great exercise, even including a Workout Mode which counts the calories you've burnt - much more fun than the gym!
There is a selection of 24 songs to dance to and 4 levels for each song, ranging from very easy to virtually impossible. When you get better than beginner though the range of songs is limited as only a few are fast/difficult enough for improvers. This means it can get a bit tedious as you end up with a reportoire of about 5 songs on Difficult setting and that's it. Most people will never bother with the Boyzone number after the first day!
But for a fun workout and a great game at parties, I highly recommend Dancing Stage.
This game is great fun and very addictive. Most people find it quite difficult at first but there are plenty of songs which are easy when you play on the easiest setting. There are three other difficulty settings, however, and lots of harder songs, so there's plenty here to keep an expert occupied. It is well worth practising as the harder difficulty levels are usually much more fun - not that you will need any encouragement once you become addicted! And you certainly will be.
My only criticisms of this game are that the commentator gets a bit annoying when you've been playing for a while, and you can't turn him off completely, and the mats have a reputation for wearing out too soon (perhaps because people play this too much - there are plenty of alternative brands of mats, some of which come with guarantees). Also, there's a sort of bug in that the corner squares are mapped to arrows when you're playing, meaning that if you accidently step on one, leave your foot there and don't realise, the game will not notice when you press the real arrow. That gets annoying. Even so, this game still deserves five stars!
There's quite a bit of variety in the type of steps you have to use for each song. My favourites are La Senorita (extremely fast), Keep On Movin' (just as you'd expect it to be), Video Killed The Radio Star (fun patterns) and Mucho Mambo (repetitive, so easy!). I Will Survive on expert mode is fun too because it looks impossible but is actually quite easy! Practise it and you can impress the crowd in the arcade!
