Although this very short novella was bogged down with the typical of Hamilton, minutia, this was eventually a very cute story. I do think that Ms Hamilton writes these stories about the everyday lives of her characters, to mimic what may be going on with her own life.

Micah, Nathaniel and Anita are invited to a picnic given by long time friend and partner Zerbrowski and his wife Katie. The trio is babysitting Matthew and the story ends with a dance that shows how little boys can be ballet dancers without being 'gay'. Anita also finds herself in an uncomfortable situation that pits Nathaniel against another party goer who has been to one of the parties in which Nathaniel pulled a 'Full Monty'. There is more to the story but I don't want to spoil it for anyone.

What I will say is that Ms Hamilton again ruins a perfectly good story with the over detailing of Anita's lovers hair, eyes, bodies and back-stories. It is an annoying habit at best. One could almost make an argument that she (the author) does it to pad the word count so you don't feel cheated by paying three dollars for less than 60 pages.

I've read all the Anita Blake books and have to say this is by far the worst yet. I can't imagine many people that enjoy reading about vampires are going to find this remotely interesting. In a nutshell the book is a short description of a family bbq, children ballet dancing and little boys scuffling. Save your money and a couple of hours and give it a miss. Sorry Laurel K. Hamilton but I'd be embarrassed to taking money from fans while giving so little in return.

I found this one when I bought Affliction and thought great, fantastic...but it took me 20 minutes to read and was just so disappointing. Read the write up and save your self £1.99 it tells you everything that happened! Waste of money.

I love the Anita Blake books and believe that there is a strong possibility that I have developed a huge crush on most of Anita's sweeties. I am also envious of Nathaniel's hair. Dancing is a nice little slice of Anita's life when things are not trying to kill her and her people.

Short, Sweet, and Snappy Review:

Title: Dancing
Author: Laurell K Hamilton
Genre: Paranormal
What I liked:
What I didn’t like: the lack of action
Recommended Read: Yes
Rating: 4 Stars

Though I enjoyed this short read it felt as though it was lacking something for me. Whether that was the lack of action or the length of the descriptions, I don’t know, but something was off with it. I did, however, enjoy the read, and it was nice to catch up with some of my favourite characters in between books.

Having said that, the length of the descriptions really make the short drag in places, and I felt like we could have done without a page and a half description for each well-established character. But when it came to some of the new characters, there didn’t seem to be enough description.

If you’ve got the rest of the series, however, it’s worth a read.

This little look at a day in Anita's life though quite short ( it is a novella) is lovely, more times like this worked into main story lines would be great and I can't wait for the next snippet :)

Another good book having read nearly all of the Anita Blake books on the market it was nice to read something that was a bit softer than the other books no killing in this one , still a very strong storyline tackling Anita ,s strange love life as of now she has kept it mostly out of the public eye because of the grief she gets working with the police and being through is mainly men . The party was a good way of highlighting Nathaniel and just how gorgeous he is .

So pleased that I finally got an e-reader so that I could read this book. As a long-time fan of the Anita Blake series, I'd say that this a good chance to see the softer side of Anita. A very enjoyable quick read, and a must for die-hard Anita fans!
