Review

Uspenski's volume shows the company in moments of unguarded intimacy that only a fellow dancer could capture. --Daily Telegraph

A treat… Dancers is about exceptional ballet photography and for that alone it is rare, valuable and worth collecting. --Ballet News

About the Author

Andrej Uspenski was born in St Petersburg and trained at the Vaganova Ballet Academy and subsequently in Dresden and Berlin. He has been a member of The Royal Ballet for ten years. Andrej grew up with photography, spending much time in his father's dark room. Surrounded by the Royal Ballet's supremely talented dancers on a daily basis and drawn to capture their artistry both on and off stage, he discovered his own passion for photography. His photographs can be seen in Royal Opera House programmes as well as national magazines and newspapers.

This is a lovely book. The photos are excellent and well seen. And, unlike an earlier photo book of RB dancers by Johann Persson, the dancers are thankfully identified by both given names and surnames. A beautiful item of record.

I bought this as a birthday present for my girlfriend and she thinks it was great as the pictures are fantastic and it's great to see the ballet she loves from a different angle. It's a great 'coffee table' book.

Uspenski is a dancer with the Royal Ballet, taking photos of his colleagues in the Royal Ballet. The photos are beautiful and give a perspective that only a dancer can give. If you love ballet and the ballet dancers you will love this book.

I thought when I bought it that it was a DVD of behind the scenes which would have been wonderful. However I am delighted to have it form part of my library on ballet
