Once again, a master of his craft, pulling together a large cast of very different characters coupled with a deep knowledge of the subject matter and settings, always well researched. My only slight criticism with this book is that at crucial points he stepped back and used back story when the pace and energy should have continued. But it is the characters' back story that make his novels a cut above in this genre, so I can't complain really and it is an editorial issue rather than the writing itself which is, as ever of the highest quality.
