Damned if I do is a good start to a new series. It's an action-packed and fast-paced story which I enjoyed from start to finish.
The story line is dark and exciting with a few surprising twists.
The characters were fleshed out and they all had their own personalities and parts to play.
There are two points of view in the book, Edie's and Jude's.
Edie is an infected vampire hunter, who puts everyone else's safety before her own, while searching for the vampire who killed her sister and coming to terms with her new-found abilities.
Jude is a vampire with amnesia, who tries to help and protect Edie while struggling with his feelings towards her.
I'm interested to see how this series continues!

I really enjoyed the difference this book holds compared to other blood sucker books. This book follows two leads so you see Edies and Judes point of view. She is trying to find the vampire infected her, and killed her sister. While doing a dance around Jude, who is helping her. Great start to the series!

HASH(0x94c0f390) out of 5 stars What happens next? 20 Sept. 2015

Damned if I Do is another great book by Erin Hayes. I've liked everything that I've read from her, but I have to say that her most recent works How to be a Mermaid and now Damned if I Do have marked a huge growth in her abilities as a storyteller.

DiID follows the story of Edie Harker, the unlikely heir of a vampire hunting legacy. She was never meant to be the Harker, but here she is being it. She's a ticking time bomb, with only moments to live. She's got the help of her cousin Carl, and a broody vampire named Jude.

The story is well paced and eventful. There isn't a lull in the middle of the book like I find in a lot of other books. Edie is a likable character as is Jude. The world building is solid as well. I never once felt like I didn't get what was going on.

Damned if I Do is a dramatic, suspensful vampire novel. It's a paranormal romance, so if you're looking for more of a horror themed vampire read then this one isn't for you. The romance is done just right. In the first 30% of the book I felt a little peeved at Jude and Edie's love. They had five months of back story that we don't get to see. So that made the romance seem a little rushed to me. I also wasn't taking Edie's sickness very seriously at that point either, and I think in life or death situations emotions run a lot higher. As the book progressed and we got to see more moments on screen with Jude and Edie my annoyance definitely faded, and I got lost in their moments together.

All in all Damned if I Do is a solid read. One that I was surprised to find myself loving, considering I'm not really all that interested in vampires.

HASH(0x9512a9d4) out of 5 stars Desperate For More! 14 Sept. 2015
By Christine Softley - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
This was the first book I have read by this Author and let me tell you, I am kicking myself for waiting so damn long and missing out an some amazing reads!

One of my favorite genre's is paranormal romance and this book was the perfect definition of what makes an amazing PNR read and was a perfect reminder of just why I love this genre so much.

The thought and detailing that has gone into this book is simply mind boggling. I absolutely loved the world that Erin was able to create in Damned If I Do. If you are a fan or The Mortal Instruments of The House of Knight than you will go nuts for this book. It literally has to be one of the most thought out, detailed reads I have read in ages. You will become completely enraptured in this world of vampires and hunters and be unable to put it down.

Erin has been able to create a world full of depth, angst, suspense and wonder. I loved the suspense that went along with this read. This was in no way your typical vampire romance but something so much more.

I am literally on the edge of my seat dying for the next installment in this series. Simply put I just cannot get enough of Jude and "The Harker"!!!!

HASH(0x960ee558) out of 5 stars A thrilling tale of one woman's journey of self discovery, love, and desperation. 14 Sept. 2015
By Dowie - Published on Amazon.com

I am beyond thrilled with this book! Damned If I Do is not your normal Vampire read, instead it is a thrilling tale of one woman's journey of self discovery, love, and desperation.
Edie, was never supposed to be THE Harker, however fate has something else in store for her. After the death of her sister, Edie is forced into a dead end. Edie learns the hard way that not everyone is trustworthy, ghosts can have attitude, and not all vamps are bad.
Jude.... oh my sweet Jude. He has to be my favorite character in this book. Just may not know his real name or history, but he knows what he feels for Edie is true and pure. He will stop at NOTHING to show her that he is by her side through sick and sin!
I love to read Erin's books, she has a way of pulling you into the story and leaving you wanting to read on through the night. Damned If I Do is no exception. All I can really say, I can't wait to read Book Two! Congratulations to Erin for a #Fantastic new read!
*Suggested for an older reading audience for physical violence and slight language with adult themes.
#Cliffhanger

HASH(0x94ba34d4) out of 5 stars Terrifically dark and exciting! 15 Sept. 2015

Another amazing book from author Erin Hayes, Damned If I Do is a dark story where it all seems hopeless and life is working against the main character Edie. I found this story to be captivating. Her idea of the origin of vampires was unique and the Harker history was outstanding. I truly enjoyed this book for all the action, drama, and the unexpected twists! I highly recommend this to all who love a good vampire story!

HASH(0x956b2108) out of 5 stars Great read! I NEED more!!! 15 Sept. 2015

OMG! This book! What a great read that definitely satisfied my need for the paranormal. I loved the dynamic between the hot, amnesiac vampire, Jude, and vampire hunter, Edie Harker.

This book starts right off in some action. Edie and her sister, who is the current Harker, are ambushed by vampires. They take Edie's sister down and she becomes the next Harker. Let me back up... Edie comes from a long line of hunters with some supernatural powers. The powers are passed from hunter to hunter when the current one dies. So, Edie's sister is killed in action and the the powers and title of Harker are passed to her. Not only did she have to watch her sister die, but the vampires also infected her with their blood. Vampire blood and Harker blood do not mix well and ends in a slow torturous death. Edie accepts the help of a hot vampire, Jude. Jude does not remember his past. He hates being a monster vampire, so he does things to try to atone for his lot in life. I adore Jude and Edie together. Their dialogue is full of fun and emotion. You can definitely feel the sparks between these two.

Their quest to save Edie and find answers is so full of adventure and action. There is always something happening in this book, but not so much that it gets bogged down and heavy. So many questions need to be answered, and only some of them are. Thus, the need for the next book in the series. This book does not end in a cliffhanger, but you definitely want more, need more. I for one cannot wait!
