Format: Paperback
Ainsworth skillfully deals with a very difficult subject that's unfortunately affecting more and more people. We're gently pulled into the world of teenager, Gabi, the guilt she can't cope with slowly eating her, and pushing her into the only way she can deal with it - by self-harming. The novel explores this and themes of acceptance, respectfully and with great care. Whether you're wanting to understand self-harming more, or just enjoy a poignant and thought-provoking read, I'd highly recommend this.

I've liked all Eve Ainsworth's books but I think this might be my favourite. Gabi is an engaging heroine, and I love how Ainsworth juxtaposes the thrill and physicality of her skating with the very different physical awareness as she starts to inflict damage on her body. The handling of both grief and Gabi's grandfather's alcoholism are painfully precise. I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes thoughtful teen fiction.
