Damage Control marks the fifth official solo album by Rock veteran Jeff Scott Soto. The artist, who has more than 60 albums under his belt along with numerous collaborations and recordings around the World, has established himself as a consummate professional who manage expertly all musical genres, from Metal and Hard Rock to Funk and Disco.

His career spans nearly thirty years, beginning as the vocalist for guitar virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen leading to frontman for many bands such as 'Talisman', the legendary 'Journey', 'Soul SirkUS' and more recently 'Trans-Siberian Orchestra'. In 1994 he released his first solo outing `Love Parade', followed years later by the acclaimed 'Prism' (2002) then 'Lost In The Translation' (2005) and the rather average 'Beautiful Mess' (2009).

Soto is an extraordinary performer and amazing vocalist throughout. He blasts through the hard rocking tracks with energy and knows how to caress with a delicate ballad. For `Damage Control', Jeff has adapted many of his past influences and most requested aspects of his career by blending the art of Melodic AOR with Hard Rock influences throughout. The album is completed with appearances and co-writing along with his current and former live line bandmates as well as guests such as Dave Meniketti (Y&T), Jamie Borger (Talisman/Treat), Casey Grillo (Kamelot) and Joel Hoekstra (Night Ranger).

From the start, with "Give A Little More", "Damage Control" and "Look Inside Your Heart", anyone can immediately conclude that Soto rocks hard enough and tries to turn us back to the 80's with these melodious gems ! The next tunes are just as good with the above three mentioned tracks. There are, also, some more heavy moments without, of course, loosing the major thing of this effort which is the melody!

Oh Jeff, Jeff, Jeff ... you've done this all before - so only four stars ! ... I was really looking forward to this release having discover Mr.Scott Soto a few years back, He's done some great stuff over the years and there are some excellent songs here - 'Look inside your heart', 'Bonafide' and you must turn the volume up for 'Die a little' to mention three ... He changed direction a little with his last album 'Beautiful Mess' (as he has always done over the years) which I grew to like and in the end played to death and I guess I was hopeful that this would contain some new and refreshing stuff ... perhaps I need to play it more! ... As ever the vocals are excellent and lots of great guitar sounds ... If you're a true fan it's a must, if you're new to JSS and haven't discovered his old solo stuff yet, W.E.T., Talisman, Soul Sirkus etc. you will find this is a good album and not a bad investment at £10 or £12 !

5.0 out of 5 stars JSS Hits the Sweet Spot Over & Over! 27 May 2013

Once again JSS brings us a true masterpiece! I really love his work with Talisman and his 2004 Journey-influenced "Lost In Translation" album; not to forget his work with W.E.T. and other AOR groups. This album is an excellent AOR album with sound influences from REO Speedwagon,Journey,Van Halen,Aerosmith,Foreigner and others. A very guitar driven album full of melody and ear dripping, lyrics impregnated with meaning and direction. The title track (#2 in the listing)) Damage Control opens with some excellent hard rock melodic guitar riffs that literally grab your ears while Jeff''s smoky vocals, sometimes singing with the smokin' lead riffs, bring you Foreigner-esque tune about relationship repair. There's not a tune on the album that I don't like though some border on straight out metal(which is not a bad thing either). Track 5 "Take U Down" has a lead solo that sounds like Paul Gilbert. The whole work is melodic and driving. The lyrics are meaningful and challenging in their scope & message. JSS's voice seems to be ever at the top of his game.Sometimes plaintive, sometimes harsh & biting when needed but always distictive and strong. The musicianship on the album is beyond, driving with unmistakable direction. Like a number of his other album's this one was produced at Frontiers Records whose standard of excellence in production and recording is the new industry standard! HIts the sweet spot everytime plus the album download has 3 bonus tracks for a total of 14 tracks which is a great deal at Amazon's price. This is definitely worth the listen and purchase price to do so!

Much better to me than Vertigo and a better fit for Soto. Easy to listen to, great songs that fit Soto's voice and style. I would recommend this to friends... hey, I just did! Rock on!
5.0 out of 5 stars All I can say is WOW!! 4 May 2012

I have always been a fan of JSS and I typically will listen to anything that he lends his talents to, but this album is a cut above the rest. I loved his Lost In Translation solo album, and by all means, that is a great album, but Damage Control is by far the best material that JSS has blessed us with. The vocals, music, songwriting, and variety of song types included with this set is excellent. Do yourself a favor and pick up a CD and enjoy.
5.0 out of 5 stars Soo Rocking Out! 10 Jun. 2013

A mix of Foreigner, Van Halen, Whitesnake and Extreme but heavy with furious solos. The album has a great flow from start to end. I listen to each song twice in a row making it 2 hrs of good ol hard rock. Very good buy, though expensive in Indian Rupees.
