Having read the Lily Trilogy, I was very happy to read Dahlia's story - and it was much more intense than I expected! I would recommend that you read the Lily books first, as the story carries on from there, and references carry over.
There is a lot to commend this story - it deals with some difficult issues, retains a good dose of humour and leads cleverly into the final trilogy. It is definitely hot, in more ways than one might expect. I got totally engrossed in the story - and kept reading long passed my bedtime, as things continue to unravel through the whole story. I was very glad that I got to read them all in one go - the suspense between releases would have been frustrating!
I have the final trilogy lined up on my Kindle - and have bought the latest Vivian Winslow book (Blossoming Wildflowers) as I very much enjoy her writing. I look forward to more in that new series.

I received a copy of Blue Dahlia in exchange for my review. Dahlia is certain that her future is with Rodrigo, and that moving to Miami to be with him is the right thing to do. But before she does that she has to face her past, and the one man that will always be a part of it. Facing up to her husband, Shane, is one of the hardest things she's ever done, especially as Dahlia knows she still loves him and yet can't stop thinking about their dead daughter when she looks at him. Though Shane hasn't seen Dahlia is 7 years, he still loves her, and the passion is still there between the two of them, all he needs to do now is to convince Dahlia that there is something there as well... When I thought about a trilogy about Lily's sister, I wasn't actually expecting anything quite like this for Dahlia. I expected her to have a past but I didn't actually expect that past to be a husband and a dead child, and all the traumas that that entailed. Probably because Dahlia was tarred a bit by the way she was introduced to the series (which definitely wasn't an all that nice way for her twin, Lily). There was definite chemistry between Shane and Dahlia, though it took me most of the book to decide whether I wanted them together or not, and I'm still not 100% sure. I'm not sure why but there is just something that makes me think that their story isn't quite over, and that there is more to it than meets the eye. So I'm definitely intrigued as to where this is going. One thing definitely in Shane's favour was that he reintroduced Dahlia to the world of art, meaning that she got back to creating pieces, and considering that that was her passion in life, and that she'd stopped, I think that can only be a good thing.Read more ›

Another book from Vivian that I just loved. And you can check out my thoughts on the other books in the reviews page.
We learn that Dahlia is very talented! Art and Photography, hmmmm a secret life behind her party animal life we have come to know. I like getting to know her better and seeing that she is just a regular person after all.
So Dahlia is ready to take the next step in her relationship. Should be no problem, except someone from her past may get in the way of it. Lets just say you won't be routing for Dahlia and Rodrigo.....Yup Mr. Shane joins in and their chemistry is undeniable and just make you want them together instead. When she came to California, she planned to get closure, and instead the chemistry came back. Who she pick was..........Well I'll keep that to myself.
During the story there is this secret she has been keeping. When it was finally told, you will feel for Dahlia. Heart wrenching and just wow! What a secret to have kept for so long. I never expected this much impact, but once you get into these stories you expect to love these characters, you can't just not have something big happen.
I really loved this and just need to read more! Vivian did another great job!
Yes I'm back with another one of Vivian's books! First off, I love the details in this book, the details just get better in every book. Perfect amount of hot scenes to keep you hooked and plenty of pages to learn and love the characters.
Dahlia is having a tough time. Dealing the the loss of the man that she thought was her forever and the loss of her daughter. It's really not an easy thing to deal with or even go through. So she is having her grieving time right now and she deserves some peace after all this is done.
Once she has had time to grieve, she needs to live on with her life. And to do just that she is gonna go on a trip. Where a new adventure is waiting for her. So off to paradise she runs to with her friend and sister. Who knows how long it will take for Dahlia to heal and if her heart will ever be fully whole again.
Now there is where I would love to go super detail, but its a little hard without giving out so many spoilers. So.....on the trip Kai comes along with his own past. And maybe they can heal each other. This story brought the intensity to another level. With so much happening to Dahlia right now, and watching how she deals with it all and the way things shift once she goes on her trip is just perfect writing. I love all these books and I can't wait to read the next book of hers.
Dahlia is an amazing woman, and I just loved watching her grow through the books. She has gone through so much and is always able to get through like the strong woman she is. This is her final chapter and I'm happy with the way it all ended.
Okay so....Dahlia has basically tossed her parents from her life. She was never happy about her daughter being taken. Not to mention she has no idea where her daughter is or who she is with. And her mother won't tell her anything, so she wan't nothing to do with her right now and tries to figure out where her daughter is.
So here comes Vi, the awesome lady with a plan. They should take a trip and visit her friend that is a PI. So Rodrigo, Thomas, Gustavo, and Alejandro join the picture...and boy does this bring a lot to the story. All these guys, and you can imagine what could happen since we know what they can do from previous books. So you know it wasn't all smooth sailing.
But all Dahlia wants is to get info about her daughter and hopefully get to see her. After all the she has gone through, she deserves to find her daughter and find love and have the good life that she deserves.
This last one has more intensity and I just couldn't stop hoping that she does get the life she deserves and I'm happy with how it turned out. I can't wait to read more by Vivian. You know she is a talented writer when you just love these characters and can feel the story.
We first met Dahlia in Lily’s story. Dahlia has a past that not many know about, and the only way she can forget her past is by partying and sleeping with as many men as she wishes.
She seems to change her ways when she meets Rodrigo, the brother of Lily’s boyfriend Alejandro (who we also met in the first series).
Before things between the two of them get any more serious, Dahlia knows she must go back to a time and place she has no desire to, and face her demons. She knows that what she has to do is going to break Rodrigo’s heart, but in order to move forward with him, she must first get the divorce she so wants. What she doesn’t count on is the feelings Shane (her husband) and herself still hold for one another. But before they can start their lives together, tragedy strikes, and Dahlia is widowed. Just as she’s coming to terms with her grief, Shane’s mother hands Dahlia a note that is about to turn her world upside down. How can Dahlia face her own parents knowing they kept this secret from her for the last seven years? How will Dahlia react when she discovers that not only is the child she thought she and Shane lost all those years ago, is alive and well, but that her parents had organised an illegal adoption with friends of theirs? Can Dahlia overcome the huge betrayal not only by her parents but by the one person who she thought loved her and promised to keep no secrets? Will Dahlia ever see her daughter again, and have some sort of relationship with her?
Without giving too much away, it’s easy to see how life is one giant puzzle, and all we have to do is find all the right pieces to make ourselves a whole.
In this book we also get a bit of background information about Violet…….who is the subject in the third and final instalment in this trilogy.
After reading about Lily, Dahlia’s twin, in the first three books of the Gilded Flower Series, I was always curious as to who Dahlia was and what she had been through. There are small glimpses and allusions to something that happened in her past but as the reader, you never really know what happened to her. Well in the first installment of Dahlia’s story, Blue Dahlia, you get exactly that. Dahlia is living life and loving Rodrigo, her sexy Latin man, and starting to plan a life with him, to establish a future and move to Miami. Dahlia is all in, or so she thinks, and has just one loose end to tie up. She heads to sunny California where she meets with her past, a haunting past in the form of one sexy surfer boy named Shane. We come to find out that Dahlia and Shane shared a life together, a blissful few years in which the beautiful artist and sexy surfer lived, loved and planned to start a long and happy life together. But tragedy struck and Dahlia ran away, leaving a confused and heart broken Shane. She left her family to clean up the mess and determined to move on in her life. Yet revisiting her old life and seeing Shane again opens old wounds but brings a deeper love of life and understanding than she has been able to find in years. As they rehash the past and tentatively step into the future, we see a couple so in love and lust that they cannot help but be together forever.
This book was a surprise to me. I was not expecting this turn of events in the story. In the previous stories from the Gilded Flower series, Dahlia and Rodrigo are so in love and lust that I could not see them anywhere but together. Yet as she interacts with Shane and begins to heal from past wounds, I firmly believe that her place is with him till the end. Her character was so much more vibrant and alive with Shane. Their connection was deep and their lust was off the charts. It made me happy that this couple was able to have their happily ever after and I hope it stays that way! Vivian has a knack for throwing curves balls at you so I am a little hesitant at the moment but I am excited to see how life unfolds for Dahlia and Shane, and what is in store for Rodrigo, sweet lonely man.
This book is short, sweet and sexy. I feel like Dahlia may be my favorite twin, even though she annoyed me in Lily’s trilogy. Ha! I am interested to see more of who she is and what her life has in store for her. I am ready for the next two books in Dahlia’s story!
Where do I even begin. When I got my ARC of Black Dahlia, I was given specific instructions to not give away anything, so I am going to attempt to do my best with a review that hopefully gives very little, if anything at all, away from the story but intrigues you nonetheless! In the Gilded Lily Trilogy, I never really like Dahlia. Her methods and misguided ideas were ridiculous to me but I was always curious about more of who she is, seeing her in a different light as Lily’s story progressed. In Blue Dahlia, I started to like her so much more, and she actually became my favorite twin. When I started to understand who she was and what had happened in her life, I started to fall in love her with story. Dahlia’s first novella ended really well and happily, which made me a bit nervous, seeing as how the Gilded Lily Trilogy always seemed to play out. But I was ready to see more of Dahlia and Sean so I dove right in to Black Dahlia. Be forewarned, Vivian throws a crazy massive curve ball within the first two pages of Black Dahlia and I had no idea that could possibly be coming. And OH MY GOSH! It just keeps going. This novella is a whirlwind and it kept slapping me across the face (in the most shocking and best way possible). Chapter one is the first slap and heartbreak. When tragedy strikes, she ends up on a gorgeous tropical island, where she goes through a process of healing and begins to put her life back together once again, finding a new purpose and love in her life in the form of new friends. When she sets to return to California again you are slammed with something you will not see coming. When I finished the epilogue, I literally yelled out loud. It was a sucker punch to the gut that I had not even begun to process and understand. I will say nothing more but that Black Dahlia has raised the bar and I cannot wait to see what happens in the Red Dahlia. Things are about to get crazy and I cannot wait to see what Vivian has in store for us!
When Black Dahlia ends, we are left with a BOMB dropped in our unsuspecting laps, which is reiterated in the prologue above and expanded on. That seems to be the trend for Dahlia’s story, and I have to admit it makes this story line so much better! When Dahlia reads the letter from Shawn, she discovers that her daughter is indeed alive; that her mother has lied to her and hidden her away with a family somewhere. This starts the story off in such a way that chaos ensues. Dahlia sets on a search to find her daughter and is met with so much resistance that it seems like she will never find her. All the while she is dealing with her broken yet mending heart, trying to find out what she is going to do with her life. There is so much emotion! There are genuine moments of “What the HECK are you doing?” and moments of pure unadulterated rightness. And that ending!!! Be still my heart… It ended how I hoped, despite the bumps along the way! Fans of the Gilded Flower series will love this installment! This is a perfect conclusion to Dahlia’s tale and I hope Vi is front and center next. There are some mysterious happenings surrounding that girl and things start to get a bit dicey with her.
This is the second half in The Gilded Flower Series. In the first half you read about Lily, Dahlia's twin sister. This half of the series is all about Dahlia.I feel like I've been waiting forever for this trilogy to be finished. I didn't even want to start this one until all three were out because I knew I would devour them. I love Dahlia. I honestly didn't know where it would go with this sister. She's a bit of a wild one. Tiger Lily had ended mentioning Dahlia's past. I was not expecting what I read. I really wasn't expecting how it turned out either. I loved Rodrigo and I was sure they would be together through this whole trilogy. Boy was I ever surprised. I love the start to The Dahlia Trilogy. I started to read Black Dahlia but had to immediately stop to write this so I didn't get anything mixed up because Black Dahlia starts with a freaking BANG!
OMG! That is the first thought that comes to mind as I finished Black Dahlia. OMG- that didn't happen. OMG- that didn't happen either. You get a sucker punch at the beginning. You grieve and want to cry along with Dahlia, and then you start to feel happy for her. Start to move on with her. Then you know what happens.. Another sucker punch that has your emotions running all over the place. This poor girl can't catch a break. One thing after another. I loved Shane. He held on for Dahlia a long time and what happened broke my heart into peaces. I didn't expect it or could I believe that it really happened. Then come Kai. I fell in love with him instantly. I could tell he was going to be a good guy and I even hoped that Dahlia would end up with him. Why oh why didn't she just stay on the damn island. And then the letter... the letter that ripped Dahlia open all over again. Can this girl ever catch a break?
I can't get enough of these three girls. Red Dahlia is full of craziness. It's hard to even put into words what I think without doing some kind of spoiler. I will say that I love Thomas. Even though he was a prick for what he did to Dahlia, I can't help but to hope he gets the girl he loves. We get more Gustavo in this one. God how I hate him but love his sex scenes. I wish he would just leave Lily alone. I'm so happy that Dahlia and Rodrigo had their HEA. I was wishing and hoping for that since book one. These two really are a cute couple and to have them back together made the ending that much better. Red Dahlia also sets you up perfectly for the next installments of the series, Vi's story. Can't wait for these.
All in all this trilogy was perfect. It kept up with the same suspense, emotions, and hotness as the first three. I can't wait to see what happens with Vi and how it ends for all three of them.
So, for those of you who have read the Gilded Lily series, you've already met Dahlia. And if you're like me, you had already fallen in love with Rodrigo. But as you also probably know, Dahlia has a secret...one that she hasn't had the courage to tell Rodrigo about. And that secret is about to blow Dahlia's world wide open.
When Dahlia tries to 'do the right thing' and take care of her past before she moves in with Rodrigo, rather than taking care of it, she seems to be falling back into it...
It's obvious on page how much Dahlia is attracted to her past. It's comfortable, it brings back great memories, she's getting back into things that are a huge part of her...but it also reminds her of an extremely hard time in her life.
Although this story was in some ways predictable, I was still SHOCKED at a few of the things we discover along the way, and of the decisions Dahlia made, and how she handled her situation. I love Dahlia...but that doesn't mean I have to like her right now! I'm also a little upset with Ms. Lily. WHY doesn't she try harder to remind Dahlia that there was a reason she left her past behind! I don't want to give it all away, but this is what I immediately said when I finished:
As much as I understand where Dahlia is coming from, I am SO MAD at her right now!! And poor Rodrigo...
I NEED the next one. RIGHT. NOW.
BLACK DAHLIA - 5 Stars
OH MY FREAKING LORD!!!! I want to KILL them!!!
Ok, I promised no spoilers...so, I'm not gonna tell you why I want to kill them. :)
For reals, though, Dahlia goes through some REALLY tough crap in this story. Like, I was ready to cry in the first couple of pages. And she is DROWNING, and I can't blame her. I honestly don't even know if I could handle what she went through.
Of course, there are some fantastic new secondary characters. And I LOVE them! And you will too.
Thank GOD I already have the next book! Because I need to see what's going to happen to everyone!
RED DAHLIA - 5 Stars
*sigh* I just want to marinate in my happiness for a little while...
I just have to say, I was SO terrified for Dahlia in this book! I wasn't sure how things were going to go down in a few different areas of her life, and I just wanted her to be happy, and to get all of the things she deserves. Don't get me wrong, Dahlia has definitely made some mistakes in the past, but she really has grown and changed. Plus, some people did some REALLY awful things to her, and those situations needed to be remedied.
Vi's life has been taking a step forward in Dahlia's books, and it's driving me mad that I can't figure out what's really going on with her! And I'm pretty sure Dahila and Lily are going to have some role in fixing what's going on with Vi. I really hope Vi's books come out soon! I NEED to know what all this craziness going on behind the scenes in the book is really about! (Plus, a secondary character that showed up in this book...let's just say I think he's going to be a vital character in Vi's series. And I really like him!)
