Charles Mosley, polymath, raconteur and wit, died only a week or so ago. This is his final book - a contemporary thriller about an American journalist who comes to London to investigate the death of his predecessor. The book is a rip-roaring thriller with all valves open and the mixture set to 'super-charge'. It's also eccentric, labyrinthine and rococo to the nth degree, a combination of Mickey Spillane as written by Doctor Johnson. Exploring the worlds of politics, publishing and people-trafficking, it won't be everyone's taste, the style is certainly not mainstream, but a discerning few will consider it Mosley's final and funniest jeu d'esprit.
