How can I use this product to receive Freesat & FTA programmes?
The service makes use of the same fleet of satellites as satellite service Sky Digital: Astra and Eurobird 1. This means that any satellite dish which has been used to receive this service will be capable of receiving Freesat with the addition of this receiver.

All you need to do is install the card and download the latest windows 7 drivers from the TBS website. When you launch windows media center , it detects the satellite card and scans for channels. You will get duplicated channels i.e. all of the regional channels for itv and bbc, but it's easy to delete and rename channels in the channel guide.
Google "my channel logos" to download a nice little plug in which inserts the channel logos into the channel guide.
ITV HD is usually a "red button" option and is not actually a channel. To view it as a channel you need to edit the registry.
Go to C:\Windows\regedit
Then locate and open fAllowDvbsMHEG and change the value from 0 to 1. It's located in the path below.
Now go back to your channel guide, locate a channel called 10510 and rename it ITV HD. If you get a blank screen when you select the channel, launch BBC HD first then go back to ITV HD and it should open as normal.
Happy freesat viewing!
Picks up all the channels you'd expect and was simple to integrate.
Can't fault it.
Absolutely no regrets so far. Installation was easy with the new drivers, and was picked up immediately by Windows Media Centre. The supplied viewing software didn't work for me, but no biggie as I want to use WMC anyway. Picks up most of the Freeview stations and a few others, though only one HD channel so far (BBC HD). This looks and sounds fantastic with a decent graphics card (mine is a Radeon 4670), not quite so good with my onboard video (Radeon 4200) but passable still (have to use this as I can't access the 4670's VGA port due to my case design, a pain). It's also linked to an Auzentech HomeTheater soundcard and a Technics AV receiver so the overall set-up is great for me.
Sound and picture quality for the other channels is a massive improvement over viewing through the SCART cable linking my TV and standard Sky box, and even SkyPlayer looks decent (I have reasonably fast cable internet and this no doubt helps) though it's just fractionally less stable than viewing through the satellite cable. It's that good, I'm thinking seriously about putting aside my Sky box and letting the PC handle it all.
So definitely happy so far, and would definitely recommend this product.
I live in a multi-story block and our landlord decided to refurbish our aerial system in time for the digital only transfer in April this year. They chose also to provide an dish as well to receive satellite broadcasts so I thought why not try out Freesat at the same time? I looked at all of the possibilities including a seperate receiver box but thought I would give this card a try as it was so much cheaper.
It came the very next day thanks to Amazon's super quick delivery and the provider Biz Tek World and I fitted it and setup within 30 minutes receiving 7,000 channels with the original software provided. Of course I could see the channels on the list but actually receiving the scrambled ones was not an option. I then tried Windows Media Centre which found quite a few but could not see the HD channels. A quick search on the internet found me a few free satellite programs and the best of those was Progdvb6 which easily connected to most of the HD channels and the picture quality was superb. I also have Virgin Media HD here and I have to say this little card is producing a better HD picture than the cable version on my 32in LG HD TV. I have the option to connect my PC to my TV using the AMD Raedon 6670 2GB graphics card fitted to my home built pc via HDMI cable and watching Top Gear this way was an great experience (Jeremy Clarkson looked even uglier) and now the Virgin box isn't used very much.
The bottom line of all this is I am now receiving HD TV in very high quality for less than fifty quid. Say no more.

Wouldn't receive a signal despite latest drivers installed on Windows 8. Manufacturer support was useless, so returned for a refund.Published 16 months ago by Andrew
