Used for a few hours so far with no problems, and does the job well. Quite hard work to use for long, depending on how far extended the pole is, because it is fiddly to manoeuvre. I bought the 3m pole, and I think longer than that would be very tricky, so I am happy with the decision not to go for the 5m one. The clip holding the mechanism on the end of the pole has popped out a couple of times as it was dragged through branches, but I don't think that is a big problem.

This attachment is intended to be used with the Darlac Expert extending handle which comes in a 3 meter and a 5 meter length. I had the 5 meter pole already and the pruning head attached to it with out any problems. This will cut branches up to 3 inches or so in size. After placing the cutter around the branch you adjust the handle attached to the string and pull firmly , but with out much effort on the string to cut the branch. It is important to adjust the handle before pulling on the string because you have to pull the string quite a distance before it cuts. It leaves a nice clean cut even on seasoned wood as well as green branches. It is a well made product which does the job. Certainly better than messing about with ladders and a hand saw.

We had a pretty cheap tree pruner before, and the head completely sheared off. This heavy duty head fitted onto the old (non Darlac) pole without a problem and is very secure. I have no worries about this thing breaking - it's built like a tank and feels like it could cut through almost anything.

Compared with other pruners I've tried, this one has never had a cable jam and is incredibly easy to maintain - it's bolted together rather than riveted so it's easy to take apart for cleaning and/or oiling.

The only thing that might be seen as a negative by some is the weight - when you have the pole fully extended and you're trying to cut something at a 45 degree angle, it takes some serious effort to hold it. However, the anvil nature means that you can hook the top over the branch you're going to cut and the teeth hold it in place while you deal with the cutting.

Definitely going to look at Darlac before other brands when making future garden tool purchases.

This is magnificent. The whole Darlac Professional set is so beautifully made, robust, strong, practical. it just all works so well.

The anvil really does cut through quite large branches/stems so easily. The head is actually quite compact so it doesn't catch on other branches like the traditional bypass cutter. My only negative is that you don't have much maneuverability to get it around the branch, you have to get the head perpendicular to the branch which means that you can only really use in on horizontal branches if you are working from the ground. There is no way to get it around a vertical branch unless it is quite low down and your pole is long enough to let you stand well to the side of the tree.

I used this product with the 5 star Darlac Expert extending handle and have to say that it does it's job brilliantly. It seems like a rather odd contraption when you first take it from the horrible plastic wrapping, but it all makes sense once you attach it to the handle. It pruned really well in most circs, but on one occasion when we got slightly over enthusiastic with the branch diameter, one of the metal clips dislodged and went flying across the garden. We managed to find and reattach it to it's plastic mounting point, so no harm was done....it just served as a warning not to try pruning too thick a branch!

This should have been a 5 star product (as per the handle) but the dislodged clip - along with a nylon handle that isn't quite long enough when you've got the 4.9 m handle at it's maximum extent - just knock it odd the top spot! Still a really brilliant piece of kit though and very well worth the money. I hope it'll last for many more years to come.......though I may buy a spare, just in case!!

Part of a system of garden tools. We used this with the 3m telescopic pole The combination worked a treat. So for the cost of a professional pruner, we pruned our ornamental John Downey Crab Apple to perfection. Neighbours all remarked how well it was pruned too. So now we have a good pruning set to keep all our trees at a manageable size.

Using the anvil pruner with the telescopic pole made reaching the top branches easy, and the pulley gears made closing the anvil to chop each branch a very easy task. It took longer to bag up than to do the pruning.

Excellent product, arriving early, just small problem with rope, which was too short, but on reporting it replacement on it's way. The clips on the pole to hold rope in place extremely helpful, compared to older model.

Excellent piece of equipment. Cuts through the branches with ease. Bought the standard pole which I am pleased about as its quite heavy to reach high branches. Longer pole could be difficult to use.
