HASH(0x8f7e23fc) out of 5 stars This book is great. It has all the history of the country ... 10 July 2014

This book is great. It has all the history of the country and the different regions, pictures, cut aways of the cathedrals, mosques etc, so you can see what is inside before you get there, it does street-by-street tours of the larger cities, talkes about the food and wine in each region and much more.

I went to Italy in 2001, and I left my travel books on the coffee table, so the only travel book I could find in the airport was DK Eyewitness Travel. How lucky was I, this was my first one and will not buy anything but these books. I also have the ones on France and London and will buy the one for every country I visit.

Spain is a lovely country to visit, it is a hidden in plain view, jewel of Europe. It is different in every region, from the north, east, south and central. The people are nice, the food is very good and wine is cheaper than bottled water.

HASH(0x8f7e2648) out of 5 stars DK - the eye-candy of travel books 27 April 2014
By hulagirlfriend - Published on

DK books routinely provide eye-candy for those contemplating a trip somewhere. It provides incredible visual information on the areas covered by the title. But DK books do not provide the down to earth traveling info needed to facilitate that trip, at least to the level I require. I recommend purchasing a DK book, as well as a Fodor or Steves book, to have a comprehensive package. Steves and Fodor books have few pictures, which are costly to print, but they are both very detailed in the basic how to's of traveling in that area. DK books will also be a long term addition to your book shelf, when you want to quickly remember that wonderful journey, as they are very high quality on heavy stock paper.
I purchase DK books even when I am just considering a destination, and my book library attests to that!

HASH(0x8f7e260c) out of 5 stars A worthwhile investment. 6 July 2014

I purchased both this guide and Rick Steves' Spain (RSS). What maps it contains have rich detail and the photos are impressive. Compared to RSS, this book covers more cities and sights. But as a result, its descriptions are more terse when compared to those covered in RSS. I'm certainly happy that I purchased this book, but I must say that I ended up using RSS much more in planning an upcoming trip to Spain. My recommendation would be to buy both guidebooks (not really an extravagance when compared to the cost of a trip).

HASH(0x8f7e2900) out of 5 stars A Decent Guide But There are Better 25 Jun. 2014

We purchased this guide as well as Lonely Planet and Rick Steve's Guide to Spain.
All three are good but Rick Steve's turned out to be the easiest to use and packed with the most useful details

HASH(0x8f7e2960) out of 5 stars would use this guide only with at least one other guide 21 Feb. 2014

This travel guide is pleasing to look at, with lots of color photos and cross-sections of major tourist sights, along with recommendations of what to see if you only had a limited amount of time. However, owing to the stock of paper used for its many color photos, it is quite heavy and would not be practical to take along on a trip, unless you could get yourself to tear selected pages out of this beautiful book. This guide would complement a travel guide such as Fodor's Spain or Lonely Planet Spain, but would be impractical for an independent traveler to use by itself. I plan to take along Lonely Planet Spain, and only selected pages from DK Eyewitness Spain, which I have copied in full color to assist me in getting through various site in Toledo, Granada, Cordoba, etc.
