Well illustrated, informative and easy to follow. However the book could have done with more maps to locate the accomodation. I've used others in the series so knew what I would obtain.

HASH(0x8cb188c4) out of 5 stars More thorough on areas outside Prague 4 Mar. 2012
By LD - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
The DK Guide trumps every other book on this region. The next best is Lonely Planet which has more detailed information on bus/train schedules to each city. Prague is extensively covered in the DK book but it is the smaller towns that can be even more tantalizing to experienced travelers.

The book begins with areas of interest: landscape and wildlife, architecture, music, decorative arts, literature, highlights of each month, and history. Then it takes each region and breaks it down by city: history, the details, photos, town map, suggested walking tour with highlights, and cross sections of major buildings. Since you don't have time to see everything, this really helps you pick the best of what you are interested in that will fit with your routing.

This is what a travel guide should be, not an informercial for expensive hotels and restaurants. In the back you will find an abbreviated list of both groups which will also clue you into the price ranges. I would go with Lonely Planet's choices first for cheaper locations and Fodor's if you want to go first class.
