Very good guide for Budapest. All you need.

The only thing that was not so good was the pricing of the food. It is still cheap but we used the book to find a quick snack and the restaurant was more than double than in the book.

Also dont get the Buadpest Card, just by a public transport ticket for 2 or 3 days, much better value.

As with all DK guides, these gorgeous guidebooks help you find all the quirky wee places not shown in other more "worthy" guidebooks. We had already been to Budapest 20 years ago, but our last visit was much, much better and it was largely down to this book. Its pages of suggested walks are brilliant. Not only are actual places to visit pointed out but also interesting features such as unusual sculptures, details on buildings, etc. Each has a history section which is a fascinating bonus compared to many other guides and there are also sections on the surrounding areas so any trips out of town are covered too, although not in the same depth. The illustrations and layout are attractive and easy to follow. I would never go anywhere without one of these DK guides and have a fair collection. Even once you get home they are extremely readable!

Another beautifully illustrated guidebook from DK. We took a short trip to Budapest and the Guidebook allowed us to plan our time beforehand to see as many sights as possible. The maps are excellent and allow you to find your way around and look up any points of interest along the way. The illustrations mean you can keep the book as a visual momentoe of the trip. We tried a couple of the resturant recommendations and these too were great although the prices a little higher than the book would suggest. Definitely would recommend for anyone going to Budapest for the first time.

Used this book on a long weekend in Budapest. Found it invaluable for planning our days out, and in understanding the places we went to, as well as things we discovered along the way. DK books are a favourite of mine and the eyewitness guides are always a must, over the "top 10" as they give so much more info. Having bought top 10's before, ive always been disappointed as i wanted to know more.

I won't reiterate my song of praise for DK guides - I'll only bore you or make you think I'm on a retainer!

This is another excellent book in the series and strongly recommended for any visitor. In fact a friend of mine has lived in Budapest for several years (he married a Hungarian girl) and even he found things in the guide that he hadn't been aware of! Again though to anyone visiting this lovely city - and I recommend you do - get the Popup map! I'd also suggest you go in winter - the Christmas market is wonderful - you have stalls with people actually making things, including blacksmiths forges, and - when I last went 3 years ago, 2 bowyers (if you are interested in archery!)

DK Eyewitness guides are normally good pictorial and factual, letting you get a feel for the place before you visit but this one is out of date as far as the airport is concerned. I would also have liked to have had more explanation of the public transport system. Good guide but now dated.

This is a comprehensive guide to the city and some surrounding districts. It is well laid out in easy to use sections, the castle hill, the old town, etc.We were in the city for three days and found our way around with the built in maps and enjoyed the walks and a bus tour. Budapest is an enchanting city combining much of the best of Paris and Vienna so the days passed quickly and we shall return one day soon.

The eyewitness guides are one of the best that we have bought when travelling. They are easy to read and understand and are very visual. They all contain a map which is very helpful when you want to visit a particular place.
I really like the parts that explain food and drink and where you can eat, whether you want sit down fine dining or street food.
I would recommend these guides to anyone travelling anywhere in the world.......they are the key to the cities and countries!
