Tried and tested on a recent Winter trip to Toronto, this book really passed the test. Never bogged down with too many details, it's ideal for the short break traveller with limited time but lots of energy. It's neatly arranged so that clustered attractions are presented together, and you can tick off a few at a time in a day's walking. Illustrated in colour throughout, it works as a kind of photo catalogue of your destination - perfect for last-minute itinerary-making on the plane!

Handily, it includes a good section on Niagara and the surrounding places of interest, as well as the city proper.

As always, a solid and engaging city guide from DK, and another reason I'll check their offerings before other travel books.

Bought this for my trip to Toronto and as with all the Eyewitness Top 10 Travel Guides I found it invaluble for planning my trip - I love the way the book splits everything down from the 10 top main sttractions, then into the top 10 things to see within each of those attractions. Recommendations from the book caused me to go to many places I would never have previously considered - for example the Bata Shoe Museum, which was excellent. I only had a short time at Niagara Falls, and the book helped me plan perfectly so I got the best of the area. Book was extremely informative and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

I have a large number of these travel guides. What I like about them is their format - each book gives an overview (rather than lots of detail). It provides a summary of what is on offer. Inside is not just the obvious i.e. the Top 10 sights to see. Also you get things like the Top 10 museums & galleries, Top 10 markets, Top 10 Arts & Crafts, Top 10 events etc. - even the Top 10 things to avoid. That makes them very useful, and a unique approach to travel guides. I use them to decide what to do, and then use another book (or a website) to give me more detail if I need that.

The book in its physical format is small - just small enough to fit inside a DL envelope (i.e. the standard white envelope, designed to accept a sheet of A4 paper folded twice). It is actually a few centimetres shorter than a DL envelope. This compact size makes it easy to fit into your pocket.

This book can't provide detail - it can provide `the big picture'. I now normally take two travel guides with me - a DK Top 10 one like this and a detailed travel guide, to get the best of both worlds. If you just have a detailed travel guide, you can miss out on things that you wish you had visited.

On a separate issue, I originally bought my Top 10 books in the Kindle format (because I am a Kindle lover) and to my surprise found the Kindle format terribly irritating. It taught me that when using a travel guide, you want to be able to flick quickly through it and jump around easily - that's SO much easier with a physical book. In addition, you want it to be in colour - you can cure that by taking your iPad with you but an iPad is bigger and heavier than this book in its paperback version.

Format: Paperback
This 128-page book is a colourful and informative guide to the attractions of Toronto, Canada’s largest city and capital of Ontario; for real visitors and armchair travellers alike. It has all the usual features, including excellent maps and articles. There are excellent colour photos breaking up the text columns, so you can see what you are looking for. It is a handy up-to-date guidebook, with all the usual topics a tourist guide provides, as well as chapters on the top ten sites (Royal Ontario Museum; CN Tower & views; Toronto Islands; Art Gallery of Ontario; Casa Loma; Distillery Historic District; Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada; Toronto Eaton Centre; Hockey Hall of Fame; Niagara Falls).

The Contents include -
P005: Toronto Top 10
P061: Around Town
P096: Beyond Toronto
P105: Streetsmart
P113: Places to Stay
P120: General Index

looking forward to going to Canada for the first time later this year and wondered what there is to do there. This book covers far more than the top 10 places to visit but it does suggest the most popular places to see. Lots of information, maps and nice slim format which is pretty easy to carry in my camera bag.

The good thing about the guide is it doesn't try to give you an overload of information, rather just enough to wet the appetite and make you want to go to the attraction to see more.

I bought this for use on holiday in Toronto a few months ago. We had a great time and the book gave us much help in planning in advance the main things to see. We carried the book with us each day and we got such a lot more from our trip because of it.

Book seems to be a bit dated, with a number of attractions it suggests being underwhelming/closed. Perhaps most notably Ontario Place, One of the 'top 10' attractions listed in this book has been closed since 2012 years will be until 2017. This is not mentioned in their list an can only found in a lone sentence within a two page spread further back in the book detailing all the (closed) attractions at the park. Since the book was revised in 2013 surely more effort could have been made and another attraction put in instead unless the author loves an empty car park and some derelict buildings. We ended up abandoning this guide after 2 days in favor of a number of free apps that were much better and up to date.
