Not much to add other than the delivery was fast, I bought it to increase ports on my Wii, the plastic of which its made of is sturdy enough for the job, the usb sockets are well spaced between each other. The lead between the plug and the 4 ports unit is about 60cm long(2ft).

A relative's new laptop has only two USB sockets - however she uses a conventional desktop mouse, has a printer, an external hard drive for backups and a memory card reader for her camera. This cheap and very effective device adds an extra 4 USB ports (remember of course that it is going to occupy one of the two original USB ports on the laptop.) The cable is about 90cm long - we found it perfect and allowed us to tidy away all the other USB device cable. It is available in black or white - I chose white so that, for a 'non techie' my relative would find it easy to follow the white cable.

I'd advise against buying this item. Perhaps you may get lucky and get one that works reliably, but the quality is so poor that the connections do not work reliably (you often have to unplug / replug devices to get the OS to recognise them) and throughput is insufficient for USB2.0. Using a simple webcam, the video quality was impaired as a result (streaks on the video)! Webcam plugged straight in without the hub works fine!

Save time & effort (and therefore money) buy buying a better quality hub from the outset (I wish I had)!

I bought this based mainly on the look of the item and the price. The old saying "you get what you pay for" comes to mind. I have used it twice and now it has decided not to work anymore. I will now buy a better one that may last a bit longer!

The quality of the outer shell is 'fine', 'fine' meaning it isn't amazing but this will withstand being chucked around, hit or buried under paperwork etc. For this i'd give it a good rating. However, the performance of this item is, well, almost non-existant. Straight out of the packaging only 2 of the connections actually worked, which shortly decreased to 1. There is a very long delay (approx. 1 min) before the device is registered by the computer. Also, transfer speeds using this item are a LOT longer than normal. I stopped using this item months ago and upon tidying my tip of a room, I only just threw this away, which has prompted this review. I bought this item because of cheap cost and many positive reviews, so I'm pretty disappointed. It may be an anomaly, who knows? If the item and all 4 of its ports had worked successfully, I would be giving a positive review. Great shame.

Ok, so it works. But It makes my PC take ages to boot up. I bought it as a replacement for one I got at the pound shops years ago (which still works fine, I just had a feeling it may conk out at me at any moment) I was wondering why it took alot longer for it to boot up, then I plugged in my pound shop external and voila! It booted up as normal. I wouldn't bother to be honest, may send it back, but as it was so cheap, there's probably no point. I'd just avoid it.

Poorly made does not make reliable contact with devices plugged into it , very annoying when the mouse or keyboard suddenly stop working. And yes we have tested these items in other usb sockets and they work just fine

AVOID !
