Kiss the Girls is a disturbing, well-crafted movie that exceeded all of my expectations. It is not what I would call horror per se, but there are certainly some realistic scenes of violence in it. This movie pulls no punches; any ghastly images are there not for shock value but for the simple reason that the story demands them to be there in order for the film to be as powerful as it is. Someone is kidnapping young, attractive girls in North Carolina's Research Triangle area; three have been found dead in the woods, but the rest remain missing. One of the missing is the niece of Washington, D.C. forensic investigator Alex Cross (Morgan Freeman), and he goes to Durham to help find her. Soon thereafter, medical doctor Kate McTiernan (Ashley Judd) is kidnapped from her home. She wakes up to find a masked man telling her how much he loves her; this self-named Casanova has assembled a harem of sorts for himself, keeping the missing girls locked up in separate rooms in an unknown stone-walled location. McTiernan is the only victim to break her captor's rules and survive, and she becomes Cross' greatest asset in his hunt for the criminal. The eventual outcome is somewhat complex, but the terrific script allows for little misunderstanding on the part of the viewer. Most importantly, the conclusion is both spectacular and largely unforeseen; Kiss the Girls triumphs in delivering a thoroughly satisfying ending, a fact which distinguishes it from the majority of action/thriller/psychological horror movies.
Is there a better actor in Hollywood than Morgan Freeman? His virtually perfect acting is greatly complemented here by Ashley Judd's own superb performance. The role of Casanova is also played extremely well, guaranteeing the high-impact drama of the incredible conclusion.

I was a little wary of watching the film after reading the book but the film stands on its own. It misses a lot of aspects and revelations out, but it is a good film for a night in, especially if you are squemish as it misses a lot of the grusome graphic detail. If you like the book you will enjoy the film as it acts as a good summary of the plot. However I wouldn't recommend doing the 2 activities in quick succession as it would be dissapointing.

This guys a collector. I think I have seen this movie about 20 times or more and its a very good thriller with some great performances mostly from judd as I found myself completely engaged throughout as she didn't deserve what happens to her but shes a survivor would be interesting to see her character again and a retired freeman in a sequel to this as I loved the characters.

Dvd arrived in the requisite time. The niece of Dr Cross is kidnapped and a number of dead female bodies are found. Although not officially on the case he helps investigators when another woman is kidnapped but she escapes and is central in helping Dr Cross and the police capture a different serial killer in California. Back in North Carolina the other serial killer is finally captured but only after nearly killing the woman who escaped. As in the sequel (Along Came a Spider), there is a nice twist in the tail.

Based on the bestselling thriller of the same name from author James Patterson, 'Kiss the Girls' sees Morgan Freeman take the role of Washington DC detective and psychiatrist Dr Alex Cross in a serial kidnapping and murder case where a clever and wicked killer who calls himself "Casanova" (after the great lover) snatches young and beautiful women and keeps them captive underground for days on end before murdering them in the woods. Alex is brought in on the case as his young neice Naomi is one of the women who have been kidnapped. The only way Alex can find the killer and the missing girls is from the help of one of the women who escaped, Kate McTeirnan.

Anyone familiar with the Alex Cross books (like myself) will recognise a lot of the characters in the film, such as Alex, John Sampson and Kyle Craig. Morgan Freeman does an excellent job of portraying Alex, although he does seem a little old for the role (in the books he is about 35 years old at this point). Ashley Judd plays victim Kate very well too, carrying off the kickboxing doctor much like the novel's character.

The story sticks very close to the book, so fans of the series of novels should be happy with this adaption. Although it was released before Along Came A Spider (Kiss the Girls is the 2nd Cross book) there is no reason why it cannot be watched in either order. Overall it is a top quality thriller that is full of action and suspense and if you haven't read the book, it will keep you guessing until the end. As one of my favourite thriller novels, I am very satisfied with this adaption. It's just a shame the rest of the Alex Cross books haven't been made into movies too.

Loved this film for years. Always been one of those where I forget the ending and who turns out to be the kidnapper, despite seeing it numerous times! Would recommend if you're into action thrillers :)
