I really enjoyed this book. The story is well written and I didn't want to put it down. I am now going to download all the other books from Mr Dakin.

Started of thinking I was really going to enjoy this one but ended up a bit disappointed. Guessed the outcome way to early. Still continued and finished it as I like to make sure if I got it right, not a bad read just not great.

HASH(0x95ec4018) out of 5 stars His best so far! 3 Mar. 2012

I have read all of Patrick Dakin's books and have enjoyed all three. This, to me, is his best work so far. Great character development and great use of weaving historical events into this work of fiction. You can't decide whether you should love or hate the main character! Highly recommended!

Can't wait for his next book!

HASH(0x95ec4264) out of 5 stars Didn't want to put the book down 19 July 2012

Thoroughly enjoyed the book. Felt like I was there and Mr. Dakin was able to keep all the characters and their stories separate and interesting at the same time. Very well written and once I started I didn't want to put the book down. Looking to read more from Pat.

I have just read my first novel written by Patrick Dakin, not knowing what to expect and based
upon the reviews of his other novels, I decided to try this one.
I have to say that I was not disappointed whatsoever. It is well written and a great story from
start to finish. I am now going to start on another of Mr.Dakin's novels.

HASH(0x95ec451c) out of 5 stars Interesting deathbed confession 18 Oct. 2014
By Cheryl R - Published on Amazon.com

While fictional this could be the story of many families during those want days. One can never be sure what they would do during the crisis suffered by many Americans during the depression era. What a man sounds do to feed his family, a son to help take of his family. This tale was an intriguing read and each page an unexpected clue as to what was happening in this young man's life as he goes from childhood to adulthood. The choices he makes and the long term consequences embedded in his soul. Another great Dakin piece of work.

HASH(0x95ec457c) out of 5 stars Reno finally confesses 7 Jan. 2014
By Twostory - Published on Amazon.com

The book is a flash-back of an old man's life of poverty, crime, escape, fear, success, violence, failure, marriage, fatherhood, regrets, and of course, confession. My suspicions were correct as to the mystery of who was responsible for the various misdeeds and revengeful ending but still, the story was presented with a very addictive flair that kept my interest to the very end. Enjoyable throughout.
