HASH(0x963a30d8) out of 5 stars Just to drive the point home. 30 Nov. 2004
By Trevor Dubbert - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
That guy that wrote the long review is not a liar. I have been into these guys since `95 and they do it right. This first album is a must have and you will listen to it for the rest of your life. It just rocks out, no kidding.

-Honest vocals about what it is like to be in a underappreciated, heavy drinking, down in hole rock band.

-The best lead and supporting guitar combination to ever be considered punk.

-All this with a scream of I'M ALONE! that is going to make your spine tingle.

HASH(0x963a312c) out of 5 stars Reminds me of The Dead Boys... 28 Aug. 2004
By Stephen Cabral - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This 1994 CD was their first of three albums. It's pure rock for punk purists. It reminds me of The Dead Boys at their best. Jesse Malin's sneering vocals even reminded me of the late Stiv Bators at times. I need to pick up their next two albums. These guys should have been playing The Rat circa 1980.

HASH(0x966c04d4) out of 5 stars D-Generation across the nation! 13 Nov. 2003
By Marseagle - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Congratulations. You've just discovered D-GENERATION, one of the greatest bands that deserved to be HUGE, but no one ever heard of. It's about time you stumbled across this band.
D-Generation were one of the only bright spots in the 90's while crappy grunge bands, the unlistenable rap, and (gag) nu-metal ruled the day. Thses guys rocked, and they rocked HARD!
These New York punk, sleaze, rockers were so muthertrucking awesome, I could barely contain my body from rocking itself into a paraplegic wheelchair bound state of rock-n-roll ecstacy. They were THE BEST band in the 90's. Forget Nirvana, Korn, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, or any other bands who claim to "rock." D-GENERATION blew all those bands away just from the opening lick on this album.
They came onto the scene with a debut record, this one simply titled D-GENERATION, that should've rivaled Guns-N-Roses for most kickass debut album ever! Remember when you first heard "Welcome to the Jungle" and though "holy moses, that songs is soooooo awesome!" Well D-Generation's first song, and opening track "NO WAY OUT" is just as good. It should be a classic song on the same level as that song. The guitar lead and hook is sleaze rock perfection. The lyrics, simply poetic.
There is not one crummy song on this record. Each song pulls you in, rocks your socks off, and leaves you wanting more like a crack addict who can't get enough of the good stuff. If MTV (P.S. you guys suck) and radio would've give this band the exposure they DESERVED, grunge never would've happened and real ROCK would still rule the Earth, and not the pretenders that did and still pass as Hard rock or rock, for that matter today.
Find this CD, and buy it, and you will not be disappointed. If you like bands like The Wildhearts, Backyard Babies, Guns N Roses, The Ramones, Motley Crue, and AC/DC, then you will be down with one of my favorite undiscovered, but great bands, D-GENERATION.
Buy this album and become DEGENERATED!
HASH(0x9677a87c) out of 5 stars One of the best records of the nineties... 8 Jun. 2007
By Craig Russell - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
mix Cheap Trick's first record with Aerosmith's Rocks, plus a dash of The Ramones - and you have D-Gen's debut. couldn't have been released at a worse time for the band, the very strange mid-nineties. no one knew what to do with them: they were too punk and weird for the masses, yet not punk enuff for punk snobs. the industry didn't know what to do with them, either - and the album got buried. the only down-side, and someone else here mentioned it: the production isn't stellar, and fails to capture the band's amazing live energy. but even that can't hide the hooks galore. and Jesse Malin's lyrics seperate D-Gen from any hair-metal comparisons (and i like hair metal). if you like catchy hard rock, buy this album...
HASH(0x966f6888) out of 5 stars Fun Rock n' Roll 2 Feb. 2008
By freedom78 - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
As far as I know, there's nothin' wrong with playing some rock n' roll, and D Generation do just that, with a bit of punk and a hint of sleaze thrown in for good measure. They may not be the most talented musicians I've ever heard, but they play with energy and passion, and sometimes that's good enough in rock n' roll. It won't win any awards, but this is a fun record and enjoyable to listen to, which will impress on occasion, with a killer second half ("Wasted Years" and "Ghosts"...and especially "Vampire Nation").

Rock on!
