red a number of books on the same subject whilst researching, Found this book to be well written with new detailed facts that I had previously not known. I would recommend this book for a first read and an introduction on the British beaches especially if the reader was planning a visit. Having visited all three beaches prior to reading this book, having red it, it answered a number of questions I had regarding troop movements off the beach on D-Day

People interested in the sequence of movements of specific units will be interested in this book. For me, maps are the best way to describe time based deployments, and this book would benefit from more charts, especially for readers who do not already know the village and emplacement names.

The most compelling parts are the first hand accounts from people who were there.

A lot of work has gone into this book, but it's mostly factual references, a drier than I expected.
