Product description

Product Description

In the late '80s they were regarded as one of the coolest underground rock bands with their bluesy, heartfelt sing-along anthems and ramshackle style. With something exceptional to the norm they did not go unnoticed and appeared on Top of The Pops and MTV, graced the covers of Kerrang!, RAW, and Sounds. They also toured successfully worldwide several times and created a cult like following in UK, Japan and Europe. After the band went their separate ways in the early nineties they briefly got together in 2000 to record 'Happy Ever After' then in 2002 opened for Alice Cooper all over Europe and UK. Since then all members have kept their music alive through their own various guises. Frontman Tyla has continued to record many solo albums and tour as a solo artist. He is also a published writer and painter, and has developed a dedicated following. Bassist Steve formed Slyder, a funk blues band and is now a sought after luthier and has opened a successful guitar shop. Guitarist Jo is a frequently hired session musician, painter and sculptor. Drummer Bam toured USA, UK and Japan with his band Bubble and has recently launched his hand forged silver jewellery collection. Over the years fans have campaigned tirelessly for a reunion of sorts and many had given up all hope of ever seeing them back together. However news that a dear friend of the band was in need of urgent medical treatment has inspired these four kind hearts to reunite and raise funds through their music. The band have recently played a string of sold out shows in the UK and Spain and this is the first time the CD has been available anywhere apart from at these shows.

The Dogs D'Amour have been around since before I was born - and that's since 1983, for the factophiles among you. Of late, though, lead singer Tyla has been touring with a variety of uber-talented performers under the guise of the Dogs, amongst them Rich Jones (the Loyalties, the Yo-Yo's, Black Halos, Sorry and the Sinatras, Ginger Wildheart Band). Though they always put on a great show, there was that little spark of the old Dogs magic missing.

Not any more.

Cyber Recordings sees Tyla, Bam, Jo Dog and Steve reunite for the worthiest of causes, raising funds for an old friend going through cancer treatment. Now, let's be honest - Tyla and the gang probably knew they could knock anything together and the die-hard fans would lap it up, but to their credit the four tracks on this CD are easily up there with the best. From the very first moment Tyla's gravelly, whiskey-soaked voice kicks in on top of those sweetly familiar refrains of the old Dogs sound on Flame Boy, you know you're in for a treat. Sounding like a potent lovechild of Tom Waits and the Wildhearts with a little twist of old style rock 'n'roll thrown in for good measure, the Dogs have rarely failed to delight, and this disc certainly hits the mark.

As an addendum, it's well worth picking up a physical copy merely for the pleasure of having the artwork in your collection, even the lyrics printed inside handwritten by Tyla himself in his distinctive style, and the four portraits of the band members on the inner sleeve are definitely ones to cherish for those who've been on the long journey with them. And for newcomers to the Dogs, pick up this little baby, celebrate it and then dive in headfirst to their gloriously extensive back catologue. Trust me, you won't regret it for even a moment.

The "classic line up" back with 4 new tracks.... And it's actually pretty good! Strangely, it sounds most like "More uncharted heights...." than DJS-era, even with Jo's slide all over it but the quality of the songs is better than anything released in the last 20 years. A pleasant surprise.... Go ahead, buy it! (Not for me... Think of the poor bloke in the record shop...)

Hearing this reminds you why you liked the dogs in the first place. Tylas new album is great but he has never replicated the sound from the eighties... until now.

It's only an EP but let's take small steps & hope the original Dogs D'Amour produce a full new release
of songs. These 4 new tracks leave off where "Straight" ended.
Only problem downloading the MP3 is the titles are mislabeled.
The correct titles are as followed...
1. Flameboy
2. Hotel Daze
3. Livin' On...
4. Walk Away
