This review relates to the German/Austrian disc from CMV.

Contains the full uncut "hard" version of the film, with English, German and Italian languages. The American DVD from Anchor Bay had portions of the English track in Italian, claiming the hard version was never dubbed into English (which wasn't true). Whereas this release is both fully uncut and full English (see my notes later about this). The default language is German though, so be sure to either select English from the DVD menu prior to watching the film, or use your remote control to change the audio track after pressing play.

Contains the documentary "Uncut and Run" which was also on the US Anchor Bay disc. BUT there's no English subs for this version, only optional German subs, so no way of deciphering what director Ruggero Deodato is talking about when speaking in his native Italian language.

Also on the disc is a trailer, a slideshow of the various promotional posters and VHS release artwork from around the world and lastly a selection of alternate scenes from the "soft" version of the movie, that was released on video in the UK and US.

Quality is similar to the US AB disc, though the US disc has the edge slightly. I sort of got the impression that they may have simply ported over the film from the US AB disc (which is in the American NTSC format) and converted it to the PAL TV format (the standard or Europe), which would explain the ever so slight drop in quality (though there's not much between them) and slightly shorter run time.Read more ›

one of riggerio deodatos best films good performances from lisa blount richard lynch leonard mann john steiner ect also of note a pulsating claudio simonetti score wich is exellent probably his best . i reccomend that you buy this dvd good action and a must for gore fans buy it from amazon on anchor bay entertainment with lots of extras on the dvd . ps thankyou amazon for helping me to purchase this film

A shoddy, terribly acted and plotless excuse for a film from the director of Cannibal Holocaust. Nothing in it worthy to point out, very mild violent scenes and just, slimply awful. Its not good, not even in a unintended funny way. Dire in the extreme. Ashamed that a paid money for this junk..luckily I sold it to some other poor sucker. Avoid.
