This book follows Amiee, a 18 year old nerd. She keeps to herself and just hangs out with her best friend Blake, a fellow nerd.
He twin sister is nothing like her, she's popular and outgoing.
But one night her sister persuades her to go to a party and it changes everything in Amiee's life.
Her life basically gets tipped on it's head and she enters a world she never thought existed. But who is the mystery man that saved her life at the party?
Would she rather live without love, or die with being loved?
I really enjoyed this book, you get thrown straight into the story. The characters are very addictive, you can't help but read another chapter to find out what's happening.
I loved how the storyline progressed, and the mystery element we had with trying to figure what was happening with Aleks and mystery man drugging girls in the town.
I wasn't ready for the shock of the who the drugger was, but that kept me interested in the story.
I can't wait to read book 2 and to see what is happening in Amiee's life now!
The majority of the book jumps back in time to when Aimee is still human. She is still grieving the loss of her mother's death 8 months earlier, yet her vivacious but shallow twin sister persuades her to attend a party. It is this night that is the catalyst to Aimee's change from human to immortal. Unknowingly sharing a spiked drink with a girl she never considered her friend, they both end up in hospital with liver damage. Aimee is convinced a beautiful man saved her life when she choked on her own vomit, yet no one recalls seeing him.
Soon Aimee is torn between her feelings for Shane, the boy she has loved all her life but who is dating her promiscuous sister and Aleksander, the mystery man who saved her life. She loves Shane with her heart and mind, but she loves Aleksander with her whole heart. Yet when circumstances force her to detach herself from her former life, she is soon clear on who she can't live without; it's just a pity she can't risk being anywhere near him.
Aimee is a character that really grows on you throughout this book; despite the mistakes she makes and her indecisions concerning her love life. The prologue certainly caught my attention, and I hoped far more would be learnt of Aimee's current life; however this is not the case as this story only sets the scene to explain the hows and whys behind her abilities and immortal status. That said the hints of "The Rose" organisation certainly tempts me to continue on with the other books in this series; "Bane", "Hyde", "Witch" and "Death". 4½ stars
The begging gives you a peak at the paranormal in the story then jumps to the past leaving most of the paranormal out. In some parts of this story I felt that it was all over the place and it was so hard to follow to say the least.
Tragedy strikes Aimee when she attends a party with her best friend Blake, she gets drugged. Upon her recovery, she faces tough decisions, tough losses, and through it all finds the man she will love for the rest of her life.
Shane is every girls dream and Amiee breaks his heart. As for Aleks, I understand the confusion she has between both boys. Amiee goes through what every girl is afraid of. How do you go back to normal when something like that happens? She has to face the loss of her friends and family and most of all her true love.
Will book two hold the answers Aimee is desperately seeking?
As usual with Tara Brown Cursed is full of wit, sarcasm and great characters!
I found her books by accident but have fast become a huge fan, both my daughter and I love this author....I might add that i'm nearly 40 and my daughter is 21 so T.B covers a wide age range!
Try it, Cursed is a free kindle book and the others don't exactly break the the purse strings!
