A cursed king and a powerless witch have to work together to save a kingdom but surviving secrets is another matter entirely in this riveting paranormal romance. Kryssie Fortune has created a fascinating world with interesting elements and intriguing characters that invite readers back to join their next adventure. I was captivated by the story from the very beginning and I am looking forward to reading the next one.

I started reading this on my girlfriends kindle, as I was keen to know what she couldn't put down. It starts in Whitby on the Yorkshire coast, and that's a place I know well. It was like re-visiting childhood friends. The action moved to the otherworld. What with elves, dragons, vampires, witches and of course Fae, it's a place that teams with life. Even the plants are man-eaters.
The heroine's a failed witch with a sparky attitude. The hero, an arrogant Fae, comes with layers, barriers and of course a curse. Together they set off to find Meena's missing mother, and break the Fae King's curse.

After reading a couple of pages I had to admit to my girlfriend I was as hooked as she was!

Brilliant read

The Fae King is hot. Just look at the cover. He can't marry the woman he loves unless they break his curse. It sounds simple, but they have to face the warlike Elves and their overlord, solve an ancient mystery, and shake up the conventional Fae court. I loved the way the story unfolds, especially the way Meena can't stick to her diet. The plants and the dragon were great too.

A great second book by this author, I hope there are many more

3.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 stars 8 April 2014

A curse that has reigned over time for Leonidas and his father before him, smart sexy and Fae. He is able to go between the human world and his own. As well as it seems his baby dragon( which is just adorable). And the meeting of the wise snarky girl is his dragons fault, looking for food the baby dragon just happens on Meena. Meena has to be about as adorable as the the little dragon, ah but the dragons owner and Meena bump heads right off.

Meena is a saucy, sassy beautiful young witch without powers (or so it seems). What she may lack in magic she doles out in wicked smart assness. (yes thats a word).

As they are in each others presence, their bodies call to each other, like really does either of them have time to play kissy face. Um.. no… Leonidas has to deal with a curse, Meena has to find her missing mom. Oh but they have enough time to bump uglies a few places. Leonidas knows to “love” a woman isn’t going to work, and though his body needs to be sated he can never mate it just wouldn’t work. Meena she isn’t a cheap trick to to give herself to someone that isn’t staying, she will have to guard her heart if she is to keep her on peace of mind.

A fun read… a bit slow in parts, but I enjoyed it. I love magic, Fae and dragons. I really adored our heroine. So grab this book and sit back and let the magic over take you. As Leonidas and Meena are off and a mission. Enjoy!

3.0 out of 5 stars Engaging and entertaining 30 Jan. 2014

Never let your dragon out of sight, because you never know what kind of riffraff will bond with it.

Leonidas, king of fae, is tracking down his wayward dragon in the human world. He finds his scarlet baby dragon eating from Meena's hand. Enraged, he demands for the human to release his dragon. To his surprise, she snarks back at him to feed his dragon better.

Meena is a witch without any powers. She escaped to the human world with her mother to live out a life as a "mundane". Finding an adorable little dragon during her lunch is the last thing she expected. It also generates a wave of homesickness as she cannot return to her home world filled with magic.

This second book in the series is a hilarious ride. Ms. Fortune's forte is snarky heroines and beleaguered heroes. Her characters are endearing and amusing. Meena and Leonidas bicker, and as the sparks fly, they become more attracted to each other. Their skill sets complement each other. They are made for each other despite their obstacles. Leonidas is under a curse which prevents him from mating Meena, while Meena's heritage puts quite a damper when all comes to light. Their partnership to rescue Meena's missing mother is fraught with mishaps and sexy times.

The story is enjoyable from the beginning to the end. It is a book that I couldn't put down. The characters are engaging and the plot is entertaining. However, there are several points which are unresolved in the book, and there are also a couple of relationship turns which didn't exactly make sense. These all tie to Meena's kidnapped mother. There are a few holes there which makes the story feel incomplete. Perhaps there will be more of an explanation in the next one in this series.

I really hope Ms. Fortune writes another book in this series because the world she's created is interesting. The mixing of the paranormal mythology is refreshing. Best of all, a story which could be all doom and gloom is presented in a lively and upbeat manner. This paranormal romance is recommended to everyone.
