Heard this album on vinyl in the late 60's when it came out on the budget "Music for Pleasure" label. At that time I had no knowledge of the British contemporary Jazz scene and just enjoyed the novel "cross-over" element. I recently ordered this CD and re-discovered its great quality. I now recognise that all the players on this album were stalwarts of the British Jazz scene of the time and their status shows in the quality of their playing. In concept, it was years ahead of its time when the idea of mixing elements of Eastern and Western music was a truly novel and revolutionary one. So, apart from being a seminal work in the history of World music, this is also a first rate example of the great music produced by British "Jazzers" of the late '60's and early '70's. Musicians who are so often overshadowed by their more "fashionable" American equivalents. All in all this is an original and quality album.

Simply sublime! One of my all-time favourite albums. Just discovered it on CD having treasured my vinyl for decades! A very clever fusion of jazz and indian music that somehow really works and grows on you with each listening. Highly recommeded.

This is wonderful! there is nothing complicated here, just a great mix of styles, being Jazz and Indian. In my mind it is definately of the time, circa late sixties, and swinging London, and is groovy but with a very sophisticated arrangement. I recognise two names, Jeff Clyne, who later played with Nucleus and Kenny Wheeler on fugelhorn. One of my all time favourites.

I was first into jazz at a very early age, and discovering a vinyl record with a jazz/Indian fusion many years ago called Curried Jazz opened new doors. On a recent scroll round amazon's jazz offerings I came across a cd with the same name. I bought it on risk and there it was....exactly the same album as 40 years ago. But it is just as fresh as it was then. Interesting "ragas" weaving into good improvisations. This is not ground breaking stuff but highly recommended for listening. Buy it..

highly enjoyable and something a bit different, but I was disappointed at a 31 min running time.
