Ever wondered how much energy your TV uses sitting on standby all night? Has it ever crossed your mind how much electricity that old freezer in the garage uses? With Current Cost IAMs it's easy to see how much individual appliances affect your monthly bills. Maybe it's time to replace that old inefficient freezer or turn the TV off standby - IAMs provide the knowledge and insight to empower users to manage their energy usage and thus their utility bills. With the help of consumers our aim is to create a database that details the energy consumption of every manufacture and model of household appliances. By comparing your consumption to other users it will be easy to assess how efficiently your appliances are running and when they should be replaced

The new styled IAM's now on sale do measure true AC power and thus produce a fairly accurate reading of what the load is costing you in AC Watts.
Wireless range could be better and of course will depend on distance and construction of your property.
Also not that the Current Cost bridge device still on sale does not upload the data from these devices but a new version should be on offer soon.
End Of Updated Review.
We have all been waiting a very long time for this product to materialise in the UK and at last it has arrived!
Pairing the units with the Envi display is pretty easy and you can then display the reading on one of the Envi nine channels (so you could buy three packs).
To actually see the results from the units in detail (graphs etc), you need to buy the USB to PC cable for the Envi and select one of many compatible PC software products.
The Current Cost Bridge device at present does not make the data available.
Why am I disappointed?
Answer, accuracy of reading.
Virtually every other plug-in energy monitor on sale at Amazon measure the supply volts, load current and load power factor to product an accurate watt value.
The CC IAM only measures the load current and thus the result may not be 100% accurate.
For example a Efergy Power monitor says my, router, Foxsat-HDR, TiVo, sky box, 4Tb nas box and UPS have a total power consumption is 171 watts.
Plugging a IAM in the same place of Efergy I get the reading of 234 watts which is a high side error of 63 watts.
So the IAM's will help monitor your power consumption (well VA consumption actually) but not with 100% accuracy.
This is handy if you want to gain an insight into which appliances around your home are burning the most power. Yes, you can already buy devices that allow you to do this (they usually have a little LCD display that shows the number of kW hrs consumed e.g. Plug-In Power and Energy Monitor), but the CC solution feeds all the data back to a central location. This means that you don't have to crawl about trying to read the LCD displays.
However, the IAM comes into its own when combined with a Home Automation system. I've been using these with a homeautomationhub to feed my power usage to the online graphing service at pachube. Can also get an SMS alert if a heater has been left switched on for too long.
Would have given this item a 5 star rating, but I found the transmission/reception range to be somewhat limited. As with many RF devices, your mileage will vary. Careful positioning of the receiver helps.
In summary, if you already have a Current Cost electricity monitor, these are a good add-on purchase.
Only down side of the individual monitors is pairing them to the receiver; buttons and warning light are on bottom of device so you cannot easily see when plugged into usual height 13 A wall socket.
Also, adding too many sensors to your system degrades performance. With 5 on mine, I am now losing between 10% and 20% of the instant data transmitted.
The signal range is also really good, working from the other side of my house without issues. For people wanting to monitor multiple devices/rooms, this is a really good buy :-)
I plan to buy three more in the upcoming weeks so that I can monitor more :-)
