About the Author
Tristan Stephenson is a bright star in the bartending world. He has worked with Jamie Oliver, and was a brand ambassador, training bartenders at The Ritz, among other top hotels. In 2009 he set up a consultancy company for the drinks industry, Fluid Movement. From there he went on to open critically acclaimed London bars The Worship Street Whistling Shop (decorated in steampunk Victoriana style) and Purl and he recently featured in a Tanqueray gin advertising campaign. This is Tristan’s second book.

Other countries get very short shrift. Bourbon country is very lightly touched upon. Canada is reduced to two rye whiskies. Japan is noted only for Yamazaki. India for John Paul. No mention of Amrut, India's best recognized distillery. It wouldn't be so bad if he offered some kind of personal insight into the whiskies he chose, but we just hear to typical savory and sweet adjectives used to describe these whiskies.
Even his history of whiskies looks like something cribbed largely from the Internet, as his descriptions of the various processes. Perhaps the best thing you can see for this book are the handful of cocktails he offers in the end, being a former bartender. But, even here you would be better off buying David Wondrich's Imbibe!
All in all, not worth the price. It would have been better sized as a DK travel book, rather than the cumbersome square format in an attempt to give heft that is sorely lacking inside.
