This record contains cover versions of theme tunes performed by a variety of orchestras. These vary in quality. I think the Ron Grainer and Barry Gray orchestras' tracks are good.
I was particularly disappointed with The Persuaders theme; the version on this album (Cyril Stapleton Orchestra) sounded fogeyish and completely lacked the sinister-sounding bassline of the original.
Also, those hoping for the Dr. Who or Perry Mason themes will be disappointed, as they're not on the album.

How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Although not the cult TV theme experience you might yearn for, this CD is by no means the heap of junk you might have been led to believe. I bought this CD for the Department S theme alone - a version with a little more substance than the original which I find a little weak. Thuderbirds, Man in a Suitcase and The Avengers are just some of the perfectly creditable themes on this CD although The Persuaders theme is a huge mistake - I suppose I'll have to find that theme elsewhere!

Do not touch this hunk of junk with even the longest bargepole you can find as it's awful. Half the tunes are not the original track which in something like this is what your after, they are very poor covers done by the ALan Tew Orchestra, Cyril Stapleton and his Orchestra and various other buffoons. The worst out of a very bad bunch is The Persauders theme. AVOID.

For a couple of £s its not bad I guess but it does leave you longing for more and better ... and some tracks are just plain rubbish.
