Review

"Funny, intelligent and touching." --USA Today bestselling author Ruthie Knox on After the Kiss

"I loved this book and I loved Will and Brynn. By themselves they are compelling characters but together have such fantastic chemistry and the depth of their feelings for each other jumps off the pages. I have become such a fan of Ms. Layne's books and I really think this was the best one yet. " FictionVixen.com (On MADE FOR YOU by Lauren Layne)"

"What a fantastic read! " Smitten by Books (on MADE FOR YOU by Lauren Layne)"

"Frisk Me is a terrific love story--equal parts sweet and hot. Layne is a master of both sexual tension and the soul-satisfying HEA." "Serena Bell, USA Today bestselling author""

"4 1/2 stars! TOP PICK! Layne can always be counted on to create an engaging, steamy and thoroughly rewarding reading experience, and she brings all her considerable talents to bear on this third installment of her New York's Finest series. This story dwells in tiny details and unforgettable moments that combine to make this cantankerous partners-to-lovers story into something remarkable. Layne forces both her highly reserved hero, as well as his outgoing, clever heroine, to undergo some intense soul-searching, but their longing only makes their happiness that much more intense and adds considerably to an already-winning series."--RT Book Reviews

"4 1/2 stars! HOT! Smart dialogue, creative plotting and an insightful, unexpected romance ensure that Layne's latest New York's Finest novel is a sure-fire success...a pitch-perfect addition to a lovely series."--RT Book Reviews on Steal Me

"Layne launches the New York's Finest contemporary romance series with this stellar example of the genre. Ava and Luc's sparks are immediate, and the evolution of their relationship-which starts with little common ground except a dedication to singlehood-is stimulating and realistic. They negotiate their professional and romantic interactions with banter that's clever but not self-satisfied, and their moment of truth feels warm and real. Fans of slightly gritty contemporaries will adore this"--Publishers Weekly (starred review) on Frisk Me

"4 1/2 stars! The first in Layne's New York's Finest series is funny, delightfully steamy and deeply touching, setting the bar quite high. Layne creates protagonists who are fully realized and likable, ensuring that their individual journeys are as clever and moving as their romance, and her novels are always the better for it. A bustling, detailed setting and a stellar cast of supporting characters, particularly the hero's large and outspoken family, provide the perfect backdrop for her characters and keep expectations high for the rest of this soon-to-be-a-hit series."--RT Book Reviews on Frisk Me

"Layne is hands down the queen of witty dialogue and sexy scenes. Frisk Me was a sensual combo of both that left me dying for more."--#1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken

"Frisk Me is a terrific love story--equal parts sweet and hot. Layne is a master of both sexual tension and the soul-satisfying HEA."--Serena Bell, USA Today bestselling author

Loving Vin wasn’t easy. He was stubborn and prickly and difficult. And loving him was also . . . inevitable.

Rating: 5*

Cover: I don’t know who is responsible for choosing the cover for Lauren Layne’s “New York Finest” series but I guarantee I can do a better job – Vincent is quite clearly described as having brown eyes.

Take note publishers – I am ready and willing to give up my current job and scour through catalogs of male models and match them for suitable romance book covers.

Trope: Friends-to-lovers

Chemistry: Off the charts Scorchio

One-Sentence Summary: Two NYPD partners cross the line between friendship and love

Review: If we go back to my review for the first book in this series, Frisk Me you’ll see that it ended with this: And finally, I CANNOT WAIT FOR VINCENT/JILL’s book! I wish there were more romance books out there where the couple are law enforcement partners . Needless to say I have been longing for Vincent/Jill’s story ever since we were first introduced to them.

Whilst the second book in the series, Steal Me, didn’t really do it for me, I am so pleased to say that Cuff Me absolutely DID NOT DISAPPOINT! I love books that leave plenty of time for UST and build-up before the couple get together and this absolutely followed that route and the payoff was so so delicious.

Friends-to-lovers tropes are always a tricky one as it has to be believable that the oblivious party would suddenly start seeing his friend in a new way. In this book, having Jill go away for a few months and come back engaged was a realistic trigger for Vincent to wake up and realise what he had in front of him.

Cuff Me is the third installment in a collection of standalone romances from Lauren Layne, which focus on a family of New York brothers who all work within the police department.

This is the story that I have been patiently waiting for since first introduced to the brooding Vincent Moretti right at the very beginning of the series. He is tall, dark and handsome, but moody and mysterious, and I was rooting for him from the very first page - he was swoon city in a very understated way.

Vin and his partner on the job Jill Henley have been best friends for six years. They have been through a lot together in their line of work and understand each other so well after having spent so much time in close proximity and in some really stressful situations.

Jill is yang to Vin's yin - she is like the human version of sunshine where he is a man who keeps his cards close to his chest. Jill has always been a part of the Moretti family, and she loves being around them. The only thing missing in her life is the companionship only a lover can provide. She is lonely and so when she finds a way to fulfill her dreams, Vin's world is tilted on its side, and he finally realises what's been in front of him this whole time.

What I loved most about his book, was the longing and the palpable tension that was present from the very get go between Vin and Jill, and I am not ashamed to admit that a kaleidoscope of butterflies took up in my belly for the duration of this story. It was like a sweet angst that wasn't overly dramatic but extremely addicting and very realistic.

Loved it, I need to read it again because there were so many great scenes/ lines in this book but I was too busy reading to stop and highlight passages.

Anyone who has read the previous books in the series is aware that Vincent Moretti and Jill Henley are homicide detectives. As partners they are yin and yang, dark and light, he's all Grumpy McGrumpy Face and she's all smiles and glitter. We also all know that Jill has a thing for Vin, something that he seems oblivious to. But things change when Jill spends three months in Miami looking after her mother after she breaks a leg and collar bone falling down the stairs. While she was away Vin realises how much he misses her, but she comes back wearing an engagement ring!

You know with some couples you want them to get together soooo badly and when they do it's a huge disappointment (M.L. Buchman, I'm looking at you, I'll never forget the disappointment of Bring On The Dusk - never)? Well don't worry, this is just as awesome as I hoped. Even my sneaking concern that the wonderful Moretti parents had managed to raise a slew of damaged children (how can that be in a close-knit, loving Italian family?), Papa Moretti, Luc and Anth explain it all perfectly, they're not damaged, they're men!

So, if you like quiet, brooding detectives with bubbly partners, friends to lovers, secretly in love with your best friend romances - this one's for you. Basically, this is absolutely top-notch Lauren Layne and if you liked any of her previous books you'll love this too. Oh, and there's a murder to solve too.

Sigh, what to read next?
