The comic book Locke and Key, by author Joe Hill and artist Gabriel Rodriguez, tells the story of the Locke family and Keyhouse, an unlikely New England mansion that is home to fantastic keys that transform all who dare to use them...and a hate-filled creature that will not rest until it forces open the most terrible door of them all.Competition and cooperation meet in Locke and Key: The Game, which dares you to overcome the supernatural challenges of Keyhouse. As you play, you'll collect wondrous keys to open new game play options and create powerful combinations by mixing and matching cards. You and your fellow players will face these horrors together, but who will be by your side when the dust settles? On this journey, you'll make decisions on when and where to help your fellow players, but your resources are not endless. Through careful management of your cards, you can help the family overcome challenges, and you'll be rewarded for the assistance...sometimes.

A great, well balanced game.

The games went smoothly with only a few stops to clarify rules. I suspect children or people completely unfamiliar with board and card games may struggle with the game at first.
Two players were not familiar with the Locke & Key series yet had a great time and didn't feel that they missed out on anything. I follow the graphic novel series and that added to my enjoyment of the game.
Bottom line, easy & fun game for experienced gamers to start and run...slightly more difficult for kids or those less experienced with card & board games.
- Easy to learn
- Easy to set up and clean up
- Pretty entertaining to play
- Some of the specific rulings to the specialty cards aren't in the rule book so we had to make up a few "house rules"
- Game comes with a cardboard cutout of Key House, but as far as we can tell it serves no purpose in the game other than decoration and seems unnecessary
