I have read all of June hampsons books and have to say this is one of her best yet. June has managed to create characters the reader really cares about. Trixie has her faults and is far from perfect making the story more believable. Trixies uncle Sid is a extremely nasty character who causes her numerous heartaches throughout the story and the reader can only hope he gets his comeuppance. The crying game has many elements to it including abuse, dark secrets that are best kept hidden and heartache. The crying game is well written with some surprises along the way, I would recommend this book if you have enjoyed June hampsons books, or if you are looking to try a new author the crying game would be a good start. I dropped a star as the ending felt rushed and I would have liked to know more about Teddy
Its a mixture of fact and fiction of real human suffering and hardship but written with the heart that gets into your heart. You know love and hate the characters whom she brings to life.
I admire her talent greatly and knowing June feel there is so much of her in this book and all the others she wrote if you want wine and roses forget it Mills and Boom it aint. But warm human stories about people with determination to make the best of what they got.
Well done for another brilliant book.
This is a real heart warming story of a family torn apart, and a sister who never gives up looking for her brother.
You really get into the people in the story and feel there pain and troubles, very hard to put this book down.
Would recommend any of June Hampson books
