2. Typical I/O performance as measured using CrystalDiskMark with a queue depth of 512 and write cache enabled. Windows 11 Core isolation disabled for performance measurement. Fresh out-of-box (FOB) state is assumed. For performance measurement purposes, the SSD may be restored to FOB state using the secure erase command. System variations will affect measured results.

4. Compared to Crucial P5 Plus Gen4 NVMe SSD listed speed of 6,600MB/s. Actual speed may vary.

5. Some storage capacity is used for formatting and other purposes and is not available for data storage. 1GB equals 1 billion bytes.

6. Compared to Gen5 SSD performance without DirectStorage, based on internal test results with supported GPU that uses GPU decompression.

7. Compared to Crucial MX500 SATA SSD listed speed of 560MB/s. Actual speed may vary.

8. Valid for 5 years from the original date of purchase or before writing the maximum total bytes written (TBW) as published in the product datasheet and as measured in the product’s SMART data, whichever comes first.

9. Under typical conditions for airflow and ambient temperature, our pre-installed premium heatsink allows the T700 Gen5 SSD to run at max workload without the need to thermal throttle. Please ensure your drive has proper airflow for maximum performance.

10. Based on internal gaming performance results measured with 3DMark Storage Benchmark SSD performance test for gamers. Actual results may vary.

11. Compared to SSD temperatures without a cooling apparatus, based on internal testing. The Crucial T700 SSD must be installed with a heatsink for optimal performance.

Seems we get what we pay for in the MVNe M.2 area. The Gen 5 is so fast then I copied a file bigger than a Gigabyte between these SSDs, I had to check to confirm that it hadn't just created a shortcut - yes, really.
I do a lot of image processing - these SSDs really do bump up performance.

For fast file transfers and reads, and as long as you have a gen5 mobo, then its great. Recommended, I noticed a difference coming from a gen 4 doing half the speed.

I recently upgraded my setup with the Crucial T700 1TB Gen5 NVMe M.2 SSD, and the speed improvement is astonishing. Transitioning from a mix of HDD and standard SSD to this latest NVMe technology has dramatically enhanced my system's performance, especially noticeable since I've never had an AM5 platform before.

Installation was straightforward, and the performance boost was immediate. Boot times are significantly shorter, applications launch instantly, and my overall system responsiveness is through the roof. But where it truly shines is in gaming. My FPS has seen a noticeable improvement, making for a smoother and more immersive gaming experience.

    Tips for Potential Upgraders:

Ensure your motherboard supports Gen5 NVMe to fully leverage the T700's capabilities.
Consider migrating your OS to the NVMe drive for the fastest boot times.
Regularly update your drive's firmware to maintain optimal performance.
The DirectStorage support is a standout, virtually eliminating load times in games and enhancing my gameplay with quicker level transitions. With speeds of up to 11,700 MB/s, the Crucial T700 isn't just meeting the advertised performance; it's setting a new standard for what I expect from my storage solutions.

For anyone looking to significantly upgrade their system's speed, especially gamers seeking that extra edge in performance, the Crucial T700 1TB Gen5 NVMe M.2 SSD is a game-changer. It's transformed not just how quickly my system operates but how smoothly my games run, offering a seamless experience that's hard to go back from.

Built a new system and wanted to move away from SATA SSD's. This drive offers exceptional speeds... 11,700Mb/s vs SATA's 500Mb/s. Added benefit of giving my system a cleaner look as no additional cables are needed to use this drive (it connects straight to the motherboard).

Note: This drive does not come with a heat sink. If your motherboard does not have a heat sink, I would recommend adding one. Also, download 'Crucial Storage Executive' so you can update the drive's firmware and monitor it's health.

High price, but insane performance! Would recommend!

When it worked, it was brilliant; Much faster then my P3 plus that it was meant to replace.

Unfortunately my computer seemed to suffer from random crashes if left idle (no matter what power settings I was able to change).
When in use it behaved perfectly...unless I was downloading large files (new games etc) and then it crashed the PC (possibly overheat? The fault logs never had a fault listed).

I could happily play Cyberpunk for several hour straight. But if I was browsing the web and left it alone for 5 minutes to make a cuppa it would have already rebooted my PC or sent it to the bios screen by the time I came back.

PC is once again behaving normally now that it has the P3 back in it.

A real shame, but I had to return it.
Maybe in the future with a firmware update/revised edition it'll behave better?

5.0 out of 5 stars So far, so good, but really really hot, (T705 2 TB Drive)
Reviewed in the United States on 16 October 2024
Capacity: 2TBStyle Name: T705 (up to 14,500MB/s)Verified Purchase
This is an interesting piece of hardware. This particular NVME SSD Gen 5.0 exceeded read and write speeds for me in Crystal Disk, and that was on a working "C" drive. This Gen 5.0 drive cooks, and in more ways than one. Running this in the Gen 5.0 slot on a Gigabyte X670E motherboard.
I made the error of initially installing this drive on an add in card with no heatsink to clone to as the target drive. I thought since the add in card drive PCIe slot was rated at 4.0, and not 5.0, I would not have to worry about temperatures. WRONG. The drive shut down after about 20 seconds, which I believe to be the temperature high limit was tripped. You absolutely have to run this SSD with a good heatsink, no matter what you are doing with it.
I did not think the Motherboard heatsink was going to cut it, and installed a Thermalright heat pipe heat sink on the Crucial T705. This is a good heat-sink, but despite that, running Crystal Disk, and the heat-sink sitting above a hot RTX 4080 Super back plate, the drive still hit 80 Degrees C. running the Write portion of the Crystal Disk benchmark. This is in a well ventilated Case, but with an AIO over the CPU, this is kind of a dead space. I am going to get a slightly larger SSD cooler, with a fan. It helps if I run the RTX 4080 fans all the time to cool the video card and not transmit so much heat to the SSD cooler, but I am not gaming all the time nor do I want my Video Card fans running constantly. These are just some caveats to look out for.

The Crucial T705 SSD is running flawlessly, and yes, games and programs do load faster. The associated Crucial Storage Executive is fine, but if you are used to the Samsung Tool Box, you will be disappointed.
You are best off with an aftermarket cooling solution, as I do not think the "stock" heat sink some of the models come with would be adequate for file transfers, especially being so close to a hot Video Card. Tom's Hardware has some good testing reviews on Gen 5.0 SSD heatsinks with heat pipes. Cheers!

Make sure you slot this into the Pcie5 slot of your motherboard! I have used this drive in an Intel z-790-f motherboard and an AMD x670-e motherboard, and it was detected right away, no issues at all. Linux (Fedora 40) sees the drives and installed no problem.

Speeds pretty much match what's advertised, so no issues there. Just make sure when you put this in a newer motherboard, that you pull the sticker off of the head sink pads when installing the drive, that can be easy to miss. These drives get hot so make sure it's installed properly.

The motherboard cooling solutions work pretty well, so the drive getting hot shouldn't be an issue.

5.0 out of 5 stars PCIe Gen 5 Good with x670E Motherboards
Reviewed in Canada on 21 November 2023
Capacity: 4TBStyle Name: T700 (up to 12,400MB/s)Verified Purchase
I bought this 4TB PCIe Gen 5 SSD for $600 CAD all in, so this review is based on that price. Seeing it now at $800CAD and I would say its not worth the current price at all. The max I would pay for this is $600 CAD.
This is a very fast PCIe Gen 5 SSD, with 4TB of space. I have the ASUS ROG CrossHair Hero x670E motherboard with 4 onboard M.2 NVMe SSDs, all of which are 4TB capacity each. 3 of these SSDs are PCIe Gen 4, and my OS System and Games are on this Gen 5 SSD. There is a slight difference in speed over my Gen 4 SSDs for general usage and gaming, my Gen 4s top out at 7200 MB/s, whereas this Gen 5 hits 12200 MB/s - that's 30% more throughput - from 7 GB to 12 GB per second ! People will say of course these speeds are artificial as they will never be seen in real life use cases, they will say it's the random file access that's more realistic. And for most cases I agree, that's true. But, recently I have moved my llama 2 based, large language models (AI chat bots) to this Gen 5, where I am loading 7GB to 55GB files and this has shaved off a third of the time they load in. I run these LLMs locally as opposed to the cloud (for privacy), with my AMD 7950x, and 2 x 48GB DDR5 6000MT/s memory. I also have a 4090 with another 24GB, and this is more than enough to have a working AI LLM system. So, if you want to load/move/manipulate large files (> 15GB) , then get one of these, if not stick with decent Gen 4s instead, ie the AGAMMIXS70B or the WD_BLACK SN850X. Currently (and this depends on the slot used in the motherboard), my Gen 5 is at 48oC, and my 3 other Gen 4s are at 39, 44 and 51oC. So it runs at average temperature - I bought the non heat sink one - as my motherboard has heatsinks built in.
