That said, it sorted my c. 2011 high-end i5 17" laptop rockin' & rollin' again. The originally excellent performance of my PC suffered badly when I first upgraded from Windows7 to Windows10 - the poor old harddisk was pegged at 100% usage almost all the time (and when checked with Speccy, its internal table was starting to show an error) . Doubling the RAM made no appreciable difference. Replacing the harddrive with this SSD (after cloning) fixed the worst (but not all - Win10 is a big fat resource hog) of the performance issues - and the HDrive usage is usually 0% these days! Unbelievable. [I suspect Microsoft may have also made some tweaks to Win10 to make it slightly less greedy.]
This 750GB SSD was a particularly good size for me as it is a bit bigger than my original h/disk, which means I was able to clone my original 500/600GB harddrive to this without having to mess about with disk partitions, etc.. It also means I have a slightly bigger harddisk now, rather than significantly smaller one. A 1TB SSD would have been too expensive & 500GB would have been a bit too small, which would have complicated things and would have been a downgrade in disk capacity.
Happy. Recommended. [If you intend to replace an existing harddrive, swat-up on disk-cloning before ordering ;) ]
I had already previously upgraded my macbook's RAM to the maximum 8GB and was frustrated by slow boot times and slow program launches. So upgrading to SSD was my only option.
When it arrived, I immediately set about formatting it for the MacBook. I then used SuperDuper to clone my nearly full 500GB HDD. I left the process running over night.
By the morning, it was done and I set about replacing the HDD with the SSD. A quick google lookup and I found a video tutorial on CNET that went through it step by step. Very easy.
The moment of truth, I switched on the MacBook for the first time with the new SSD. It was fast! With the old HDD startup was about 80 seconds, from boot, to login screen to desktop icons fully loaded. Now, with the SSD, it's 10 seconds to login screen and about 5 seconds to desktop icons fully loaded!
It's quicker launching programs too. I have MS Office 2016 installed on my MacBook. With the old HDD, it took nearly 2 mins to launch Excel. Now, it's a few seconds. Photos, iMovie, Garage Band, all startup in just a few seconds.
I've also noticed that system and app upgrades are completed much more rapidly, as the downloaded file is written to the disk much more rapidly now.
This hard drive is best suited to casual users who are looking to extend the life of a MacBook/PC for another 5+ years. For the price, you really can't go wrong. It's a lot more competitively priced than the Samsung EVO and will satisfy most users.
By all means, buy an NVMe drive if you feel you need to, but for most people, buying a larger but modern SATA III drive, and maybe spending the extra cash on more RAM, will be a better decision.

Reason was due to wanting a little more than the 500gb installed to accommodate a new Komplete 11 library along with everything else (ie Logic, Final cut etc). No instructions in the box but pretty straightforward- and lots of help on YouTube/google/Apple site to clone and then swap over the drive. Would highly recommend to anyone thinking about swapping a spinning drive to an SSD, my machine runs cooler, faster and feels a little more responsive to my input.
