About the Author
Beginning his career in comic books as a freelance artist in 1990, David Lapham founded El Capitan Books in 1995 exclusively to publish his Eisner Award-winning crime comic book series, Stray Bullets. In recent years, he has worked as a writer for DC Comics, Marvel Comics, IDW Publishing, Dark Horse, and finally Avatar Press, on three Crossed projects (Family Values, Crossed 3D, and Psychopath), Ferals, and Caligula. David Hine is an English writer and illustrator of comic books, contributing memorable stories to some of the most recognizable intellectual properties in comics today. His prior comics work includes such titles as Judge Dredd, Daredevil, Spawn, X-Men, Inhumans: Silent War, Batman: The Joker's Asyum, Spider-Man, The Darkness, and Detective Comics. In 2012, Hine contributed tales to two of the most popular lines from Avatar Press, Crossed and Night of the Living Dead. Jacen Burrows is truly one of the rising stars in comic book illustration. Working exclusively with Avatar Press through the years, his skillful talents have brought to life the visions of such comic book luminaries as Alan Moore (Neonomicon) and Warren Ellis (Scars). After early collaborations with Garth Ennis on 303, a war story set in Afghanistan, and Chronicles Of Wormwood, a tale of a reluctant, butt-kicking Anti-Christ, he tackled Crossed, defining the look of its bleak world and laying the groundwork for the most successful horror franchise in comics.

2 Solid Crossed Story Arcs
on 29 March 2013 - Published on Amazon.com
Crossed volume 5 contains 2 solid story arcs that are both great additions to the Crossed series. Both stories center around people dealing with the Crossed virus when it initially started. If you have enjoyed the series so far, I can't see you disliking this book. With the first 4-issue story arc, they finally team up my favorite Crossed writer, David Lapham, with my favorite Crossed artist, Jacen Burrows. The results are pretty awesome. It centers around a teen at the circus, where the Crossed have broken out and he manages to be the only person to make it out alive. Now he has to warn others of the Crossed and try to survive. The second story is a 5-issue story arc written by David Hine. Since Hine is new to the Crossed writing team, I was a little bit skeptical going into this one. But Hine appears to know exactly how to write a Crossed book. That means that there is plenty of gore and sadism, but most importantly, there is a compelling story. This one is about a group of 8 people that are part of a writer's workshop. The author running the workshop has written parts for all of the 8 people attending. They are to act out their time in the workshop as the characters written specifically for them, based on something they had written for the author running the workshop. These "characters" they are to play have been written for them as if they were able to strip all the layers of hypocracy from their lives and strip themselves of the usual social norms. I won't give away any major spoilers for either of these stories, but I will say it's a bloody good time.
