I’m not sure whether this book can best be described as a travel journal with recipes, or a cook book with context... but I like it! As an avid fan of all things North Wales, and a self-confessed ‘foodie’, this book makes for good reading.
The author writes in a down-to-earth style which makes the journal elements of the book a joy to read. If you know Anglesey & Snowdonia well, the authors descriptions are sure to make you smile.
The recipes are equally easy to follow... I’ve already tried a number of them successfully. The leek, potato & blue cheese soup is utterly delicious! Sadly as I’m vegetarian & have severe egg intolerance, a good proportion of the recipes won’t work for me... but anyone with more ‘normal’ dietary requirements will find this book a valuable addition to their collection.
All in all, I’d strongly recommend this gem of a book... the authors personal stories are entertaining, and the recipes are easy to follow, using good honest food stuffs that are easy to source. I’ve a feeling I will refer to this book regularly for inspiration - both for places to revisit, and for the recipes to recreate the hearty meals detailed in it. Well worth the investment.
