Product Description

There was once a king's son who told his father that he wished to marry. 'No, no!' said the king; 'you must not be in such a hurry. Wait till you have done some great deed. My father did not let me marry till I had won the golden sword you see me wear.' The prince was much disappointed, but he never dreamed of disobeying his father, and he began to think with all his might what he could do. It was no use staying at home, so one day he wandered out into the world to try his luck, and as he walked along he came to a little hut in which he found an old woman crouching over the fire.

I love these tales brings back memories of school, where one of our teachers would regulary read one of the stories.
Never heard any of the class complaining so I think everybody enjoy them. in fact it made me want to read more.
If you enjoy fairy tales and folk tales these are a must for all ages.
I brought a couple of these before I found that there's a kindle edition with all 12 books for the price of one,
which has a table of contents so I can go directly to a story in any book.
These single edition books don't have one so you have to flip pages for any story.

Although I am now 89 years old this book was familiar to me when I first started teaching. I thought children should have their minds taken off the drabness of an industrial housing estate and be introduced to the time old fairy tales and myths. The children loved these stories and so do I.

I was hoping for something different, yet not sure what exactly. It just didn't click. The layout was appalling as not a lot of thought went into setting the different stories out properly - has no-one ever heard of page breaks?

This is a compelling book with fabulous creative thinking in every tale. If this is your first visit to free books as it was for me give it a go! As with another review really enjoyed dipping in and out. Was dissapointed when the book ended.

Overall a pretty misogynistic work. I guess cultural influence and the passing of time impacts the reader. Strangely though I felt compelled to finish in order to see if the next story would be different. Give it 2stars as the writing was disjointed.
