Having made the same trip as Lloyd Jerome, many of the incidents are recognised from first hand experience. A nice light approach with echoes of A Year In Provence. New Zealand is a wonderful land with equally wonderful people but dont be fooled it is a different culture.

This is an easy read, written in an informal, chatty style. The change of lifestyle, change of life is juxtaposed against a totally new environment. For anyone who has left their place that was called home and moved to a new place that becomes home, there is a definite resonance in the writing.

Sometimes the written word pulls at our heart strings and makes you excited to be along for the authors journey, this is one such read. I loved it.

Read this whilst we thought about emigration to NZ, amazingly insightful book. You can almost see yourself out there with Mr & Mrs Jerome as a fly on the wall while they sort their life out in Northland. Fantastic read, don't stop there Lloyd .....

What a wonderful, down to earth, funny account of the trials of moving across the globe. I really felt like I got to know the author and desperately wanted his big move to work out. Thoroughly recommend this book to anyone, whether you're making the move or just want to live the experience vicariously.
